I have a 96 Explorer with a V-6. When it is hot outside and I drive and then park it for 15 or 20 minutes then try to restart it won't. If I wait until the engine cools down for another 15 or 20 minutes it starts right up like nothing is wrong. If I try to restart right after I turn it off it doesn't do it. The problem only happens after it sits. I think it has something to do with the heat build up affecting something but I don't know what. Any one have any ideas?

You don't give any details about what the truck is doing when you try to start it. Do you hear the fuel pump when you turn the key to auxiliary? Does it crank, but not fire? Does it just click? Or does it make no noise at all?

How long has it been since you changed the O2 sensors and fuel filter? Has the starter ever been replaced?

It turns over but won't start. Sometimes it will start but die immediatly or as soon as I try to give it gas. I have only had it for a few months not sure about the OS but the check engine light has come on a couple of times for a day and then goes off. Not sure about the fuel pump I will listen the next time it does it.

Had the codes checked at Auto Zone. Put in a new OS and ECT Sensor. So far no trouble.

Thanks

I'm having a similar problem with my '96
