wont start

97 mountaineer 5.0 ran fine for 20 miles this morning, then felt like it ran out of gas, plenty of fuel filled it up 2 days ago gone 50 miles. pulled to side of road, would not start. had it towed home,checked to see if it was getting fuel by pushing valve, lots of fuel, it started right up. let it run turned off and on several times. went to take it for a drive and made it 100 feet died again, waited 30 minutes, it started got it back in my driveway and it died again. Help!!

Sounds like a failing fuel pump to me. They are very often intermittent and will start when the tow truck gets there, or when they drop it off. Hook up a fuel gauge to the rail and verify it has the proper pressure when the no start condition happens.
