Won't turn over

Hey, I have a problem that I just can't figure out. I was driving home when all of a sudden I heard a low pop and then my engine just cut out. I pulled over and tried to start and nothing. It sounds like it wants to turn over but it just doesn't make it. I figured that the fuel pump was bad, so I replaced it along with the fuel filter, nothing changed. I checked the plugs, they're good. And the last thing I could think of was the fuses, I checked them and still nothings changed. Please help... any advice would be appreciated.

How many miles are on it?
Could be the timing chain jumped & the pop you heard was a backfire.
