1992 ford explorer
Hey there

I have a 1992 Ford Explorer, 4WD. All of a sudden it will not turn over. We checked the starter and it as fine, replaced the solenoid, still wont turn over. Battery is only 1 1/2 months old, good connectors. Any ideas before I have it towed to someone who will surely over charge me? Thanks

fuses, conections being ground, theres alot of things. does it make any noise like its trying to when you turn the key?

The solenoid on the fender side just clicks really loud. It started once since it died. Fuses and connections look good.

How do you know the cables and connectors are good? The older Explorers are prone to corrosion inside the cables that can't be seen from the outside. They can look fine visibly, but be a mess inside. The only way to tell is to check the cable resistance. If it's more than a couple of ohms end-to-end, then it's bad, and the vehicle most likely won't start.

It could also be the battery being discharged. Just because it's new doesn't mean it might not have a low charge. I'd start by checking the condition of the battery and the cables.
