Hey all...

It's been a long time but my Ole' Truck has been running good.
The other day it was like -45 below here and while trying to unlock the door to put the groceries in...........the key suddenly let go and the door handle outside is too easy to lift and the door will not open.
Got in through other door............major pain.
Today I took the inside panel off and tried to peek inside..........wow.
Dust and parts and wires everywhere but it is too cold to get anything done.
I did see though that the "Rods" from the lock and the handle and the Electric lock all seem to be all over..............I found some "yellow and white" nylon pieces that pivot on each other with what look to be threads also.

It is tight in there but my biggest issue is not knowing how it goes together and where to get the part to "Tie " the rods back together.

I found that the Electric solenoid comes with rods and some connector on "Parts Train" but I am not sure if this is what I need.

I have tried the "Search Bar" up top here but it would seem that Google Search just keeps "Loading".............

Sorry for the long story...........I hope some one out there has a Tip.

Thanks in advance

David

My old 91 had a door handle break.....from what I remember there was a small tab that one of the links went thru on the door handle that broke off.....not the best picture but......if you go to Rock Auto they have handles listed....

hello fellow winterpeger (well, selkirk for me, but its close enough). if you have to take the latch out of the door, they can be a little tricky if you have never done one before. most commonly the spring on the door handle breaks, and leaves the handle to flop around when driving (and makes a rather annoying sound as well). if you have to replace the handle, you will also need to drill the old rivets out. if you value your paint, and you are replacing the rivets, put cardboard under the handle, that way when it snaps the rivet pin off, you wont hit the door with the rivet gun. however, you can also use regular nuts and bolts to put the new handle back on. have fun, stay warm.

Thanks to All

Hey

Thanks for the tips and pics.
I look forward to getting things back to Normal.
Man that steel is cold on bare hands and its warmer today.
Time for a Hot Coffee.

Thanks
David

The little white and yellow plastic pieces you found is what connects the rod to the latch mechanism. I replaced one on my rear door last year and it was available at the NAPA store. You should be able to take the pieces and get one that matches it. If I recall they came in a blister pack and there were a couple of different colored ones in the package. You just have to pick the right colored ones. Let me rephrase that. The right coloured ones.
