I just finished installing my system. I have a Sony 502 Amp for my subs, MTX Full range enclosure with 10" subs, Coustic 2 way speakers in the doors powered by a Sony XM-C1000 6 channel amp. In between my amps, and factory radio, I have a Coustic 7 band equilizer with fader and sub controls. I ran new wires to the doors for the speakers and have a line converter on the rear channel of the radio connected to the equilizer.

With this setup, turning the volume up to the halfway mark is sooo LOUD that my ears started hurting! I didn't even want to attempt going any louder without ear plugs. It's been a half hour since I did that and my ears are still ringing. Dead Link Removed

I only have one small problem, and I hope someone has an idea on how to correct it. When the engine is running, I got the dreaded whine!! Dead Link Removed I don't think it's the amps, since it is grounded directly to the chassis, and connected right to the battery.

I think it might be the equilizer, since I pulled power and ground from something else that I am not sure where it's coming from due to lack of space in the console to see things.

Any thoughts or ideas?

Thanks

BTW I will post some pics of the install after I clean up the wiring a bit.

kilroy-this advice is from a friend, I don't know much about this stuff.

-did you put a "noise resister" in between the amp and the battery hook-up or EQ and wherever???

Found the culprit!

It's the power and ground connections to the equilizer and line converter, I ran some jumpers to the battery, and moved the grounds, separating the line converter and equilizer grounds, and TA-DA noise is gone!

Tomorrow I will pick up some new cables and run them to my center console and call it complete.

Now I will need to add to my signiture! Dead Link Removed
