My owners manual list my 5.0 4 door AWD at 11,000 pounds and suggests installing coolers on tranny and power-steering for trips over 50 mile. WOW, is this correct. THAT’S AMAZING!

no, that's not correct it's probably in the 6,000lb range. The 11,000lbs is probably the total weight of the explorer and trailer together.
 






Gross combined weight rating of 11k sounds right.... Minus the 5000 lbs of tow vehicle leaves you with around 6k of trailer weight.

Read the numbers carefully. Make sure you're looking at the max trailer weight in pounds not kilograms.
