Hey guys,

They are on their way, according to SCT. Below is a few shots from another dealer of the X-cal 2 and the datalogging software on a Laptop.....

Doug, my information shows that the 96-99 Explorer OBD-II PCM does not have the ability to chage shift points?
This is the only thing keeping me from investion in a programmer, I want to be able to not only read codes and real world emissions information but I would also like to change my air/fuel curves and transmission shift points. Is this possible with a 96 5.0L PCM?
Thanks!

The shifts on my '99 are changeable.

hmmmm...
thanks!

If I cannot do this with my 96 PCM then I am considering changing to a later model PCM with the PATS disabled, I shall see what Doug says.
I purchased a Acutron pocket scan for $59 just so I could pull and clear codes, what I really wanted was THAT SUCKER!!!! :)

Have you looked at SCT's software?

Now you can fine tune your vehicles SCT Dealer Custom Tune on your personal computer using SCT's all new Xtreme Personal Tuning Software and SCT's new XCalibrator. Adjust and fine tune:

Axle Ratio
Tire Size
Idle / Part Throttle / Full Throttle Air / Fuel Ratio
Engine Timing
Engine Idle
Automatic Transmission Shift Schedules & Firmness
Rev & Sp

You can download a copy from http://www.sctflash.com/xtreme.php

Version 1.06 is now available.

You will eed a tuner and interface cable to use it. These are available from Doug at http://www.bamachips.com/

So with this little box, I can plug it in, then plug my notebook into it and get real time gauges and stuff? Plus be able to mess with it myself(that could be dangerous ;)). That may bump my computer project back a little bit ;)

Right but it is my understanding those functions do not work on the early OBD-II PCM's, I am may be wrong thats why I am asking :) I hope I am!! OF course my checking account hopes I am not :)

Hey Jamie,

If you can give me your calibration code off your PCM then I can tell you what is adjustable for the transmission on your PCM. The tire sizes and gear sizes aren't on any 5.0 Explorer.

Now looking at the EQE1-EQE4 which are the most common 5.0 Explorer codes I do the shift points are completely adjustable. These are 98-01's though. Just let me know and I'll give you the run down.

As for the Datalogging YES, the second photo shows you exactly what you'll see when you use the datalogging feature, simply USB it to a laptop and you'll be set. It will also check and clear trouble codes too.

And as for making troublesome adjustments, it allows for a good deal but they have tried to make it where it's not really enough to kill anything. Still, I wouldn't recommend adding the full amount of additional timing to a 93 program and then use 87 octane.

Thanks, Doug.

Awesome Doug. How much different is that than the old "blue" tuner some of us have? I assume it does similar things. I need to download that software for mine (I assume it still works for mine).

Thats cool, thats definetly going on my list then :)

Thanks! I will get the calibration code :)
It defiantley has a build date of 96 however.

Yes, the Xtreme tuning software will work with the blue tuner. The X-2 will also datalogg and has a aux input for use with a wideband so you can see true a/f readings, of course you'll have to buy the wideband seperate.

Just let me know Jamie,

Doug

Doug,
I received the Xcal 2 I ordered (came to my house instead of work :nono: J/K, not a big deal), but still haven't tried any programs yet. Still waiting for my Gibson exhaust to ship since it was backordered. Also waiting for my appointment at the dealership this week when they'll repair my timing chain again and some other engine work. I don't want to change from the stock program yet, since the CEL is lit and they'll be checking the codes. I did use the Xcal2 to read it though and got P0401 (insufficient EGR flow), so that was helpful. Hopefully next week sometime I'll get the truck back and put all the parts on so I can report back to you how everything turned out.

Thanks again,
Mike

I wanted to say a big thankyou to Doug for my new X2! This thing rocks. Aside from a few code issues in the first set of programs, which Doug immediately sent new files for, the new programs are great. Better mileage, better response, better horsepow....(oh wait...this is only seat of the pants testing, so I won't say that without a dyno)....and a code reader too!

Well worth the money, especially with Bamachips customer service.
