Shackles don't really affect the ride if your shocks are good.

I had the same problem but it was cause I didn't have time to finish the SOA. :D

So I drove around prerunner style for a few day. I didn't have to even adjust my lights because they shot way over everyone else. I pointed my fogs down and had the head lights on for loooks.

Paid 398.99 for the spindles.

That picture right above this post is what inspired me to do this whole thing.

I had a block in my ranger and i changed it to an and a leaf and i actually thought it improved the ride.

Ok thanks, any idea how much shackles run for?

$50-60 from www.4wheelparts.com. They're not in the catalog: you have to call them or visit a store. There may be one in your area: Dead Link Removed

The part number is WAR153. Warrior shackles for a Ford Explorer.

Thanks dude. Appreciate all your guys' help :)

YO AGENT!!! whered you get them spindles from? the 4wheelparts down in Chula Vista Quoted me at $550-600 HELLZ NO!! the 4wheelparts down in El Cajon said $400 out the door, but install would bring up the costs to $850 which included alignment. Who hooked you up?

shackles

ya'll wanna know something, I know a place where u can save a whole $8 on the warrior shackles... www.tellico4x4.com will ship them to your door for exactly $42. there's the only helpful thing I've ever said, just help spread the word guys.

HEY AGENT 51
I LIKE THE PRE RUNNER LOOK OF YOUR EXPLORER.
I USE TO HAVE MY EXPLORER THE SAME AS YOURS FOR ABOUT 6 MONTHS UNTIL I LIFTED IT TO THE 6" THAT I HAVE NOW.
BUT ANY WAY I LIKE THE LOOK OF YOUR EXPLORER YOU DID A GOOD JOB ON IT.

birdman... at that website it says the shackles are $47 and another 15 for shipping, comming out to a total of $62

hey its unique! i get that "why are you doing stuff to yoru explorer" crap all the time. my reply being its different isnt it? only prob being at school the bike cop knows my car since its different from all the other cars in the parking lot!

I got mine done at ORW in El Cajon, the guy who i ordered all the stuff through is named Simon. Their # is 619 - 442-8689.

Well heres the break down of the parts.

Code:
Spindles Part # FTS98300-7 398.99
Front Shocks Part # B46-2131 121.98
Rear Shocks Part # B46-2132 121.98
Tires BFG 31x10.50x15 455.96
Alingment Cams Part # FTS594 39.99

The install for all that including the alignment was $310. I bet if you called ORW and got a price then called 4 wheel parts and got a price war going on you could get the labor down $100 bucks or so. Also dont forget about PG series and 4 Wheel Direct.

Good luck and let me know if you get them down any in the price.

Can you guys tell me what exactly shackles are?? (little new at this stuff can you tell?) I would at least like to know what it is that I plan on putting on my Explorer if that's what I do get. Thanks!

Shackles drop the rear of the leaf sping down. So if you get a 4" longer than stock shackle, you get 2" of suspension lift. You only get 1/2 of the distance because you're only lifting rear 1/2 of the leaf spring.

Here's a little animation I whipped up.

hey agent51,
i was goin down associated in fullerton yesterday and i think i saw your explorer. were you up here on saturday? if it wasent you then it was another black explorer with the spindle lift up front and nothing in the back. i think it looks pretty tight, but from the looks of it driving down the street you should get some bigger tires.

overall, looking good!
