got a 93 with 99xxxmiles on it and when it has rained recently (within 24 hrs) when you start is it runs fine for a second and then the rpms drop low and it dies so you have to keep the rpms up or it dies but once its been running for 4 or 5 minutes it runs fine. i have already cleaned the iac and maf any other suggestions.

Even though you cleaned it, it may be time for a new IAC. Does it run rough when you keep your foot on the gas?

it runs fine when you put your foot on the gas

Replace the IAC.

If you have more time than money

This could be a failed IAC but it could be other things. One way to test is to stick a pin in the white wire at the IAC and connect that to ground through a small12V lamp. That might get the rpm up. With your story about the rain, I suspect an electrical connection problem. Check the connector on the computer. Does it really run well with your foot on the gas? This could even be a spark plug wire problem. I assume you have tried cleaning the IAC.

i have cleaned the iac and the problem also seems to happen when it is cold and it runs fine when you keep your foot on the gas

Been said above: a clean, bad IAC is still a bad IAC.

However, you could have a vacuum leak; the intake manifold bolts are commonly loose or the gaskets blow out.

thanks for the help, i think ill replace the iac does anybody know how much they go for
