If you have a moonroof, no. If you don't have a moonroof, it is in the spot where the moonroof button panel is located to the rear of the roof console.

but where..............

do you get the remote opener that fits ?????????

I have a single button Chamberlain remote. Since the remote did not stay in place, I took a piece of grey rigid foam, cut it in a half moon shape to fit inside the space, then cut out an area to accomodate the remote in that piece. Remote stays in place, and works when the overhead button is pressed.

I am considering taking a Homelink module from an OEM Explorer visor, and modding the fold-down cover somehow to hold it.

My remote:

Guys- If the opener isn't an option, and since the visor is a PITA to deal with since the homelink needs a cutout to fit, you can always mount a homelink in your headliner like I did...

And I have a selection of them downstairs to sell... :D

The one on the left is from a Range Rover...

Joe Dirt, that is a great idea, and spot, for Homelink :thumbsup::thumbsup:

you have home links in grey? I'll see if they're in the 02 at the junkyard tomorrow

I want one for my explorer and my 500

I have 2 gray ones, I know the one on the left is clean, let me see if the one on the left is cleanable... (the spot around the center button)

Is your 500 gray or the light gray almost ivory color? The one on the bottom was out of a Lincoln and is a much lighter color...

same gray as the explorer, the interior is actually black, but the top is always gray

K...

I'll check to see if it's cleanable when I get home and PM ya...

My 99 came with a piece of velcro to hold the remote and little rubber nubs that went on the inside part of the button to push the button on the remote. I never used it. I did use that space for my tuckie though. Wife never looked there for some reason...

Ok, I'll bite- what's a "tuckie"

Its a place where you hide money from your wife. Normaly about $20 but I have seen up to $100.

Your wife gives you money?!?

I'm going to have to talk to my other half about this development...

:D

I was thinking "tuckie" meant a pipe for some herbal puffing :shifty_ey

:D

She did give me 5 bucks today... My tuckie is normaly money that she does not know about and I hide from her...

She looked at me funny and said "you're taking your own lunch to work, what do you need money for?"

What if it wasn't food?!?! Jeez...

Thanks for the thread. I was wondering what that compartment was used for as well.

Too bad I keep the X outside, and the other cars inside the garage, so no need for it to be used for its original purpose.

Thanks again.
