XM vs Sirius

As some here know my HU just took a dump on me so I am stepping up with the new one.
I already have a Kenwood changer so I am gonna stick with Kenwood for the HU. The one I am eyeballing ( KDC 2025 ) comes Sirius ready.
It also has an aux in.
I have experianced XM but never Sirius.

I can,
A) Stick with the Sirius.
or
B) get XM and use the aux in

XM I will have to still buy the reciever though.

I am thinking of keeping it simple and going with Sirius but I have never experianced it.

So Sirius owners, speak to me.

i am very pro xm because ive had it for almost a year, and tomorrow or wednesday i will be installing xm in a teachers car durring school (isnt the end of the year great?), but yet i have told other teachers to get sirius because they favor where sirius has the advantage over xm, such as the talk and dance channels

i guess its all personal preferance, ive visited the XM studios and seen the facility, very high tech and saw lee abrams (head of programing), i had the tour by the night dj of the station i listen to all the time, but really they offer the same quality programing, except some genres have advantage over others when it comes to which company you choose

I've had XM for a year or more an love it. We have it in two vehicles. All of XM's music channels are now commercial free and they are less expensive then Sirus. They way I figure it, they will both go up in price. Why start with the one that's already more expensive.

i have had xm for 15 months. best thing to do is to compare the channel lineup. and see which would have more channels you are interested in. they are both pretty equal. but someone who has XM will always favor XM and someone who has sirius will always say thats better. my friend got sirius a few months ago and whenever i listen to it the DJs seem to interupt more and there are more station promos.

I have an 04 Eddie Bauer with the top of the line HU. I had the Sirius receiver installed and love it. I do not think there is much diffrence between the two, other than the names. A lady friend has XM and they seem to be very much alike. I paided $142 for 13 months.

I can't compare as i haven't heard Sirius yet ( should shortly, a buddys gettin it) but I love XM. Well worth it.

Well the dicison has been made.
Apparently, if I use the aux in for the XM, then according to Crutchfield, I can not use my disc changer. Since this is not an option, I will stick with the ready Sirius set up.
They have a " deal" where one payment for life.
Like $500.00. I am thinkinking of going that route.
That boils down to under 5 years of annual payments.

I do not think they will go bankrupt or sell out. They have been around for a while now. But take it for a year. I got 13 months on my first sign-up. Make sure you really like it.

I like my XM...the commercial-free setup is great.. not to mention the optional playboy channel.... has anyone ever heard this channel, i havent and was wondering why someone would pay 2.99 to listen to sex talk?

I'm pretty sure that ain't correct. You have to call in the registration number to activate your account, but I've swapped out XM units before on customer cars and things worked fine.

Definately don't go with an AUX input for the XM, b/c you'll still need a control module for the changer ~ which is just another thing to mount. If you're going with Kenwood, get the Kenwood tuner and the HU will control everything (and you get to watch that little satellite icon spin around, haha). Which antenna are you going to get?

Yeah, I would recommend buying in for a year first...

Neither XM or Sirius have made money yet... I know a few guys at work had invested in them and just kept watching their stock fall

i've had sirius for almost a month now and it's amazing. i can't wait for footall season, every nfl game every week all included in the basic price. i'll be able to hear my niners here in pa...woohoo

The back of the HU only had one input. It is a Sirrus ready HU.
I already have the changer, it is already installed and I prefer CD's to sattelite.
Now if there is a way to do BOTH changer AND Sirrus I still may go that route.
Oh, and I have no interst in the modulator.

Give Crutchfield a call and tell em what you want. I know Alpine has that AiNet thing where you can hook like 5 accessory pieces of equipment through their patch cords... maybe kenwood has something like that. I know my KDC-X859 had changer and Sirius controls, so I always assumed I could have both. I'm sure Kenwood sells an adapter that will allow you to hook them both up.
