Thnx for putting up with me guys, youve saved me alot of money!! I know this has come up before but i couldn't find my problem.

Ok, i recently was messin around tryin to find the factory amp and stumbled upon the Electronic Shift Control Modulator, in the left rear wheel well. And a few peices fell out, which i figured wasn't good, especially because at the time i didn't have a clue as to what it was. Then i found out what it was, and when to the junk yard and got a used one. Then i found out that it controled the T-case for 4wd drive, and i got curious to see if my 4wd still worked. It seemed to work fine back in april, but i do remember lots of odd noises and it handled kinda funny.

Anyways, when i pushed the 4wd button the little light got bright but nothin appeared on the dash. So i opened the door and when i push the button i do hear some noises from up front like something is happening. Then i opened up the cover in the rear to check my modulator, and it was fine. When i tried the 4x4 again, samething happend i also heard clicking from the rear so the modulator is doin something. I then put it in park and pushed the Low Range button and it seemed to work fine, both lights lit up. IF i remeber correctly Low range wont work unless the 4x4 is engaged right? Is tehre any way to check to make sure my hubs are engaging? All the other lights on the dash seem to work except the 4x4. Any help? thnx

If you put it in 4 wheel drive and drive forward, then switch back to 2 wheel drive and continue to drive forward, you can tell if the hubs are engaged if the driveshafts on the front axle are still turning. Of course it is better to have someone outside the truck checking for this, than trying to hang out the door. If they are turning, and you stop and reverse direction for 10-20 feet, the hubs should disengage and the driveshafts should not turn anymore.

yeah is best to have someone else help check that, at worst if you do think something is broken or cant tell if it is, if you ever get up around the Balt area get ahold of me and I can help check it, and if it is dead I happen to have a stock t-case that works, a old set of auto hubs that *might* work and I'll be pulling the t-case electronics out of my truck soon also

I plan on getting manual hubs next year, should i worry about this? or will replacing the auto hubs with the manual hubs fix my problem? I don't think its the T-case, my 4x4 worked fine last time i tried it in april then when i tried last week the 4x4 light didn't come on. Thnx
