Gear Shift Broke Off in Hands!!!

Well I actually noticed it is a bit different. Just appears to be a minor face lift of the same shifter stick. Probably uses the same ODkill switch for the tow/hull mode etc.

Bob, what material did you cast if out of? I am just wondering how you picked what you did and what the material properties are. Additionally, was it post-casting treated in any manner to result in desired material properties?

Thanks! You may have an opportunity for your own cottage industry here, like the boys that make after market viton seals for BMW VANOS units. Thye have sold a bazzilion of thier kits to DIY'rs and Indy shops.

Hi
I casted the parts out of high quality aluminium.
im now into my second year of using it and it works great..
when i made the parts I made lots of them ..just in case..
i have figure out that sometimes you need to work a little on the splines
since they came a little to wide, but its a easy task to do that.
just be sure to measure them so you dont grind them too much..

/Robert

By the way

does anybody know if the parts i made fits other ford modells?

on my 04 out of no where it got hard to shift. It turned out to be a shifting solonoid deal and now it shifts easy. I bet some cases out there it was hard to shift between gears because of this bad part and the driver used extra force and there they sit.

No idea, but great question. I would think that there are likely to be several Ford cars that use this part. I've no idea how to find out though.

somebody here on the forum wrote that the last models have the same parts again..
but not sure..
maybe they used the same parts even on personal cars too??

I would bet on it, that Ford used the same part on numerous cars and trucks, but have no idea how to easily figure this out - maybe some quality time in a junk yard?

Nice handiwork, for sure. Do you do this kind of work professionally?

yes i have a scooter shop and a garage where we manufacture scooter parts
but i have also made very nice repro emblems for the sport car Countach
actually i have sold lots of "fake" emblems to real Countach owner
specially in the LA area..

I figured out that your screen name is indicative of where you live (Doh, I can be slow). I thought everybody in Sweden drove Volvos (and I do).

HaHa, I have one of the last great RWD Volvo tanks built, the 1998 V90 and it is perfect. Funny though, the original owner spent a forture repairing it (way more than my Explorer repairs to 100K miles), but it's been good since.

Sad what Ford and the car buying public did to Vovlo, I really admired the old Volvo brick philosophy. No place in the modern world for that anymore, I guess.

do you have any more of these replacement parts ?

Hi

mail me at
robert66@tyfonmail.se

Add another 02 to this list. It was in park at a drive thru at the bank.

Fortunately someone was slick enough to reach under it and put it in drive. So my wife dropped it off at the dealer and took the GC for a couple weeks.
