Hello! I Made my account here on EF For a few years now, I've responded to a few threads here and there, but I finally did the Elite Explorer deal (2 for 1) this last November, and I'm Glad I did! (Especially Now!) Ever since I was little, I loved our families 97 2 door Explorer we bought in 2002 with about 10k miles on it. (It's a Sport, 4x4, 3.73 w/LSD, 4.0 OHV, 5 Speed Auto). My siblings and I grew up in it and I always said I wanted to drive it, but my parents daily drove it and I never really thought about how realistic that would be that I could drive it one day. Well, fast forward to when I was about to get my permit, the lower intake manifold gasket broke. My family and I didn't know that much about engines, and the Explorer...
Hello all, I bought a 1991 Explorer XLT, 5spd, manual hubs and transfer case in March. I sold my dirt bikes in Oregon last year to make room and money for my wife and I to move up to Anchorage, AK for an awesome job opportunity for her. I planned to buy another dirt bike when we got here, but a couple months after moving we found out we would be having our first child, so something that can take the whole family out would be a better purchase for now. When we were living in the Oregon desert I wanted to build a super simple, lightweight, go fast Ranger or Bug, but being in Alaska now meant needing something that could handle mud and snow. My budget was pretty slim ($3000, ideally less) with having just had a wedding, a baby, and bought...
Hi All, I am new to the forum and looking forward to learning from y’all! I just bought a 2017 Explorer Sport in Smoked Quartz. I also currently have a 2013 Edge Sport and a 2018 Raptor. Since bringing the Explorer home I have debadged the tailgate, blacked the remaining emblems, put on a Magnaflow catback exhaust, tuned it with an SCT 91 octane tune, and installed the second row center console. I have also done a few little things like OEM all weather floor mats, rear cargo loading protector and Redline Tuning hood struts. I am very impatiently waiting on my lowering springs and sway bar from Steeda as well as my K&N cold air intake. More to come I am sure. look forward to talking with y’all
I have a 95 XLT Explorer with 193,600 miles. Everyday, I will have one to two bad startups, where the engine goes below 500 rpm then will stall out if I don’t put my foot on the gas and bring it up to about 2000 rpm where a small rattling sound can be heard which subsides. After that it will drive beautifully. Other days especially when it rains, I get the same issue more often, but during the drive noticeably less power almost like it’s struggling. Just recently did plugs, wires, coil pack, swapped out all fluids, but i cannot find the issue. I suspect It’s wiring, because oddly every few days or so, my 4wd, and 4wd low lights will flash, during which, my window switches will NOT function. Turning the car off a few times and back on...
Hello Everyone! Been on the forums for quite a while now, and have never actually made a post relating to my explorer! I've owned 2 explorers so far, bought both not running and fixed them up over time. My previous explorer was a white 99 and my current is a 97, both 5.0L and both have alot of hours and work into them, but this thread will be mainly about my current build the 97 Current Mod List (Will be updated as much as possible): -3" PA853 Daystar body lift -1.5" Torsion bar lift with adjustable rear shackles to match front -Custom built retrofit headlight housings with blue halos and switchback LEDs -20x10 Gear Alloy Armor wheels with 33x12.50 Ironman All Country M/T tires -Aftermarket Grill insert with custom Ford...

My name is Mike. I'm from Minnesota. My truck is a 98 Mountaineer. V8 and. Just over 300,000 miles. Thing I've done. New aluminum radiator, with electric fans. BFG k/2's. Autostart. Bluetooth radio. I swapped in leather seats out of a truck I parted out and squished. Has dual exhaust with t factory cats. New brakes with slotted rotors. Added the auto lamp, 8" sub, and ecc, from a donor I used for my Ranger. Sad that I have to take it off t road now. The right side of the body x member on the passenger side is rusted. Floors are still solid. The only other rust is the rockers and rear wheel arches. I bought it 5 years ago for around a thousand dollars. Ive put about 150k on it. Only failures have been the starter, alternator...
Acquired a run down explorer for 900 dollars. Seemed like a good deal as I wanted to get a "project" car/truck to fix up with my eldest son. Black with grey leather interior. Stock on everything. A littany of small issues rather than a few big issues. Main issue was radiator leaked and mixed with trans fluid. So far: 1. New oe radiator. 2. tensioner arm and pulley. 3. idler pulley. 4. new high amp alternator.(stock largest) 5. 12 blade fan 6. fan clutch 7. rear diff cover. and fluid. 8. trans pan with drain plug. 9. cheap "jinbo" set of shocks all around... actually a Monroe clone out of China. quality seems good so far. 10. shackle lift rear. 11. torsion twist x3 front. 12. sway bar links front. 13. ceramic pads all around 14. brake...
