WHOOPS!!

Sometimes things don't always go as planned. Post pictures and stories of your best...or worst mishaps here.
Hello all. As the member who this phrase was coined after, I believe we have enough members now to start making an actual board and sub-division of Serious Explorations. Therefore, I must lay down a few rules for the nominations and elections. 1. Anybody can be nominated that is a member of the roll over posse. 2. As a member though, consideration for election must be based on a few simple factors. 2a. Stupidity-Ie, getting hammered and trying to do doughnuts in a wash. Who was that? 2b. Ammount-Ie, number of times that any one person has had at least two wheels, of the same side of the vehicle, off the ground for more than, oh let's say 30 seconds. 2c. Dedication/Damage-Ie. The amount of damage sustained to the...
Here’s my problem. Stupid me went 4x4 in my STOCK!!! Explorer and got stuck in a swamp kind of creek thing. I don't really know what is but basically flooded grass. Its winter, about -13c and about 5 in of snow. So I broke through the ground and the wheels are in ruts and spinning freely. Ground level is the frame. How do I get out? What I have available to me is a Kubota L2800 (Ruffly the same weight if not alittle heavier then the truck) with plow and Front end loader. I have a 3/4 ton come along and a 2 ton hoist. Lots of chain, no straps. I am a one man show with no help. I have tried hooking a chain to the frame and the tractor and pulled from behind the truck and got nothing but spinning tires. I have tried lowering the...
So as you all know from here My truck met up with a tree. So here begins the front end rebuild proses. Day One, the start: Little messed up? Us fixing the Core Support and it worked! Got most of it! Ok come to find out the oil is fine, The Radiator is cracked down both seams but that is a $400 fix all said and done for me. The frame is fine, Have my dad look at it in the afternoon and tell my mom I am keeping it. Please keep an eye on this thread for updates I need the moral support! :salute: Cheers!
I was on vacation this week towing our 23' trailer with a 2007EB 4.6L. I had just under half a tank left and it was only 60km to the next town. Well towing at 8.5mpg quickly moved that fuel gauge! The gauge was on E and I was watching the driving computer in the dash telling me the distance to empty. 10 miles (Okay, should be close), 5 miles (hmm, where is that station?), 3 miles (how am I going to explain this to the wife?), we crest a hill and there is the station!! As I am slowing to make the turn the computer switches to 0 miles left. I make it the pumps and start pumping. The manual states the capacity is 85.2 Liters. I pumped in 83.9 Liters!!! I must have been seconds away from stalling. After that I filled up at 1/2...
So i'm doing my front brakes on Saturday. All is going well. It is, after all, disc brakes. Not like the old days when all four corners were drums. This should be easy, right? Wrong!! All went well. Or so I thought. I did the front brakes without a hitch. Ex was off the jack stands and ready for the road test. I decided to clean up before the road test. While I was cleaning up I found one of the new pads by the driver side wheel. My first thought was that the idiots at the factory put an extra pad in the box, right? There is no way that I reassembled the driver side without installing one of the pads. I mean come on, no way. Well, I'm an idiot. Not only did I forget to install one of the pads, I didn't tighten the...
Title speaks for itself. Only permantent damage so far is a dent in the driver side door and I think I shorted my tranny temp gauge. Power everything is working properly, tranny shifted weird coming to a stop all the way home, but should be fine. You can see in the pics the water line on the back of the hatch area. That line crossed my open window when I went through the deep part, I definitley got wet. There is a vid but I don't know how to post them. I'll email if people are interested. Byrd
I'll get a full story up soon. Just got back. Short story - the car infront of me rearended the car infront of him, came to a dead stop while I was going 60mph. I swerved, couldn't get out of the way. I dont think damage is as bad as it looks, but my car is in SC and I'm in VA. No one was hurt, my gf wasn't wearing a seatbelt and she was ok (and yes, I do yell at her all the time to wear her seatbelt).
Yesterday, I'm pulling of a store lot into the street. When I shift into second, my clutch pedal collapses to the floor with a snap. Great, I'm in second gear and on a main road. I look for a nice spot to pull over into, and right there is a NAPA. :D I pull in, jump out, and find the clutch pushrod pieces on the floor. Thinking that Napa wouldn't have one and that there's the Ford dealer on block over, I checked at Napa anyway, because I'm lazy. Turns out they have one, but I needed to but the complete clutch master cyl, for $59. I figured Ford would be the same, so I bought it, went out and popped it in and drove home. :) These pushrods are made of metal on the master cyl end, but the last few inches at the pedal end are solid...
Ok guys I got quite a few PM's over this from this board and from a couple others that I post on. Let me state that everyone here that reads this it might not apply to your specific application, but it sure is a hella lot cheaper to check than it is to find out like I did. Yes this is a re-post from another thread but I thought it needed to be here too! Start original post here: Ok as most of you know, I'm a pretty die-hard Ford kinda guy, with a few exceptions. That doesn't mean that Ford doesn't come up with some really dumbass-riffic-stupendiously-geniusomatic, stupid **** for brain ideas. So my story begins: Well as we all know, the last time I went wheeling I lost the oil pump in my 224k mile motor, eh not so...
List of damge -Bent frame, gas tank pushing into the rear drive shaft -Bent wristed radius arm -Bent rim, tire still holdig air -All but three windows -Roof colapsed about 1 to 1 1/2 feet -Broken front Panhard bar, still salvageable with parts. -Drivers side rock slider -Not a straight body panel with the exception of the unscathed rear hatch. -Drivers door no longer closes after being pryed open. Everything else is good. Just need a new frame and body to transfer all the parts over. Didn't even break any lights. Here's the story, as usual, as with my previous roll over, it is not very exciting. Driving dow a fire road at about 20 mph, I reached over to grab the CB mic from the passenger floorboard. I drifted right as...
Well, there I was minding my own business, gruvin with the newly fixed AC vibe. It felt so good, I decided to treat the Turdle to an oil change, and get some lightbulbs for the house. A good shakedown run I thought. So, off to wally world. I got some general tsao's chicken from the deli, some synthetic oil, a brand new Motorcraft filter, found some 67 watt bulbs, man, everything was going well. Even the check out clerk had wit this time. I had just washed The mounty and was thinking how good it looked as I walked toward it. I noticed a new Van had parked next to me, so, I carefully backed out.I continued backing , making a reverse u turn so I could go the other direction out. I checked to the right, nobody coming, gave it...
So Saturday we decided to take a trip up the Mountain to take some pictures of April in the snow. There was a little snow there but not to much. Coming down from Big Bear, I was passing a Big Rig and as I came back into the lane, I saw about a 6” Bolder in the road. Now driving a pick-up or SUV almost all of my driving history, I instinctively thought to straddle it. Well it appears ground clearance isn’t one of the S60’s attributes. I hit the rock at about 50mph and listened to it tumble under the car for the next few hundred feet before leaving the car. Pulling over I saw no damage, and no leaking fluids, so I continued down the mountain, with the car giving me no trouble. Once home and taking a better look it appears...
