Hey all. I was checking out my air filter to see if it needed to be replaced today and noticed that there's some type of gasket or rubber lining on the intake that is hanging loose. Does anyone know how this is supposed to fit on there? It's an 02 XLT V6 4x4. Right now it's half in a hole that's behind the headlight, and not detached to anything else. It looks like it's supposed to connect to the air intake that goes into the filter box, but I'm not sure what the purpose is or how exactly it's supposed to be arranged. If anyone could post pics of the front of their filter box, that would help a lot. Thanks.

anyone? a closeup pic of the front of your filter box where the air intake is would be a huge help. thanks all.

if i were you i would see this as an opportunity and or excuse to install a cold air intake. helps the MPGs as well.

it simply pulls in cool fresh air from behind the headlight.
