Front end feels like brakes on

I have a 2002 Ford Explorer XLT. In the morning I have a hard 90 degree turn to make getting out of driveway. Whether backing or going forward the front end seems to bind l(like brakes are on) when turning wheel as far as they go. You have to step on gas to force the car to move. At a point there is a clunk which releases the binding. The rest of day it goes fine. Seems to only happen first thing in morning. Any ideas what to be looking for?

Sounds like you could have bad cv joints and or a bad vicious coupling unit.
