Hi: I joined in the hope that I could find some info re a 2005 Ford Ranger.
That model of that year doesn't seem to be represented here, correct me if I am wrong.

A friend, who has limited funds, has the MIF indicator (check engine) on solid.
I was hoping to find a method and chart to read the error without a code reader.
I have used the "count the light flashing" to do this on other vehicles.

Any input appreciated.

Thanks

Welcome to the forum! You will need a scanner to read the code. Any Autozone or big box autoparts store should have one free to use.

We have a Ranger forum that covers all years, I'll move your thread there.

Thanks 1AJeremyD, I wish I could get a loaner, I called all stores within 50 miles, no joy.
BTW, I am in Canada, retailers here are not into loaning scan tools. :-(

Is that a ODBII that I need or the CAN that I have heard about?

Thanks
