A/C not cold. 2001 explorer

i have a 01 explorer 4.0v6 vin E. my problem is the a/c wont blow cold,the comp. kicks on and off quickly.got a can of reff. with the gauge on it. hooked it up and when the comp. kicked on the gauge went in the red!!

How does your high and low pressure pipes feel. Both hot? One cold?

Both hot ! And the accumulator is warm never gets cold. Also the blower fan shuts off when on high.changed the switch out but still wont run on high. oh and the heater works fine no issues there.

Did u take any pressure readings or did you just charge you system with one if those bottles with the gauge ?

You compressor is coming in so at least you have that going for you. It could be the accumulator. It sounds like the gas is not expanding to cool.

It has been a while since I had to tackle ac problems, but I had a similar problem.
