1998 Ford explorer 4.0 sohc vin - E

I had someone replace my negative battery cable because my back is really bad. He told me it hooked directly to the starter. Is this correct in this model explorer?
I was told that's how some explorers are...

He probably meant to the bolt that holds the starter on. Here's what mine looks like. Also there's a smaller wire that bolts to the radiator support on mine.

The negative battery cable just has to be bolted to the engine block somewhere. My 2001 SOHC ST's negative cable is bolted to the lower starter mounting bolt. Good enough.
