I want to apologize in advance if this has already been asked/answered, I tried searching the forums a few different ways and didn't find this one.

I have a 99 Ford Explorer that has developed a sound like a chain dragging on the ground but I hear it only when I make a rather sharp (or full) left hand turn. It sems to come from the front passenger tire area and someone had suggested the possibility of some "outer (or outside, I don't recall which) bearings" - but he wasn't sure. It occurs whether it's in four wheel drive or not and I can't tell that speed affects it but I am more cognizant of it when I'm coming from a stop...

Jack up vehicle with steering turned full left, spin right front wheel, check for noise. Do same for left side. See if you can find noise.

Solved

Sorry about the delay in posting this. The problem ended up being the brakes. I got those replaced and the sound has stopped.
