I’m on my second air compressor on my 96 Explorer V6 and this one is sounding like it’s going to die again. With my previous one the clutch died and I replaced it with a used one from a member on this forum. Everything had been working great for 5-6 months but then one morning I hit the front defrost and the clutch started making a loud grinding noise. I popped open the hood and could see the clutch struggling to engage and lots of metal shavings around the clutch itself.
Does anyone have an idea why my compressors keep dying? I was thinking of just buying an all new compressor but am worried that it could be some part of my car that keeps causing them to die like this.
