I need to get off my ass and extend the breather tubes on my axles, hopefully this weekend.
My question is, what diameter hose should I get, and should I get a crush resistant hose?
Also has anyone put a filter on theirs? I want to run mine into the engine compartment, but a lot of dirt and dust floats around in there, so would a filter do anything, or would it be a waste of time?
Thanks!

Use rubber fuel line. I would use like a 3/16 (pull the old one and check the size). Use a small hose clamp by the differential. The rear can be run to the gas tank door. The front can be run to the engine compartment. I dont have any kind of filter. I would check/change the axle grease at the same time.

That airhose looks badass, what did you do on the front?

Same the other end of the hose.

Got one on sale at HF.

How did you connect the coiled air hose to the diffs? Can we see an up close picture of the connection points?

Have any of you ever used something similar to a one way air vent/valve or PCV valve to keep debris out?

I can't remember but there's a pic on here somewhere of guys using ATV axle breathers for their trucks. It looks like a little accordion thing, so it actually keeps your stuff air tight. It expands and contracts as the air and fluid does.

I have fuel line for mine...its thick and tough enough and i have never had a problem

here's my underhood manifold:

(thats an old picture before I added the trans and drain ports)

front diff, t case and auto trans all vented to here, the rear axle is vented high up under my BII hatch

Filter is a good idea, I also added a drain port so if the trans pukes (overheat) it wont fill the front diff

Thats a sweet setup, and thats the kind of filter I had in mind.
I still havent done mine yet, I bought the hose, thats as far as I got.

Would that be a crankcase filter and a PCV valve with fual line for all your tubes Fortune410?
