You got the spindle nut off? The front bearing should just fall right off the spindle with the wheelbearing/spindle nut off. Once the bearing practically falls out you should be able to pull the rotor straight back.

...Pull harder.

I ve been pulling it pretty hard, and had one of my buddies try. He said " It should slide right off", of course it didnt.

pry bar? between rotor and knuckle?

i think you got a ABS tone ring back there so that might not be a wise idea.

but i mean the only thing there that is touching the spindle is the bearing, the rotor rides on the bearing.

once you get it off, you need to grease that spindle ;)

you might be going to the store to getting a new grease seal for the back of that rotor... im guessing the inner bearing is seized to the spindle, that play is the distance between the race and that seal...

but you didnt tell me if you got the front bearing out yet?

and is this truck equipped with auto or manual hubs?

It sounds as if you didn't remove the bearing lock nut. Not to sound stupid or anything, but did you remove the large bearing nut and bearings? Pictured below is the key being removed from the bearing nut.

Yeah, I have manual locking hubs (as indicated by my sig.) so I dont have tha locking key.
I have the outer bearings removed, and it looks as though everything is out of the way.
Not relly sure what to do, I've pulled on it hard enough to injure the inner grease seal and the rotor still wont come off.

If its not comming off and you allready took everything off might as well beat the f-er off. Sounds like youll need a new spindle maybe rotor and bearings anyways.

It would have been nice if you mentioned Your broken axle thread

After finding that little gem it sounds like your spindle is bent preventing the inner bearing from sliding off... If that is the case the spindle and bearing are already toast.

If this is the same side. Consider it a shut case and fork over the cash haha. Like Derocha said. It would of been nice if you would of mentioned this little part.. Haha

Hello! I have a 93 Explorer 4x4... changed the rotors... but the thing is I cant get the "half snap ring" back on. I cant drive.... HELP ME PLEASE!!!

I will assume you mean the groove in the axle shaft in which the snap ring fits (picture below) isn't sticking out enough for you to install it. The axle shaft moves in/out you just need to pull the axle shaft further out. Sometimes its easier to use a large screwdriver/pry bar at the U-joint..

i just changed the rotars/calipars/pads on tuesday, i used a flat head screw driver that i got from dollarama, slipped the end of the driver into the little grove, and "pryed" it out. i dont know of a better word, but theres absolutly no resistance. worked pretty good.

I am stuck at the part where the shaft pulls out and makes a full slot for the snap ring to fit into..... my Explorer is stuck in the garage :( I cant drive my daughter to school. It doesnt seem to move, or be able to be pulled out.... maybe a hammer will work.... really frustrated...

There is nothing to prevent the axle from moving in/out except the grease seal attached to the Stub axle (U-joint side). Where did you jack up the front of the truck? If the TTB (twin traction beam) is not level then it will be harder to move in/out.. Once the TTB is level the stub axle will have the greatest/easiest movement and should allow you to easily re-insert the "C" clip..

Does it happen to matter if the inner and outer baring are switched or are they the same? would this prevent the C ring from going onto place? it is out by a 16th of an inch from getting it on there....

Replacing the bearings and wheel seal has NO effect on the axle length. If you look @ the picture below you can see the axle shaft passes through the spindle, therefore the rotor, bearings, and seal would NOT affect the axle stick out length at all. In fact if you were to remove the spindle you could then pull the axle completely off the vehicle with little resistance.

I have worked on many D35 axles and know exactly what you are seeing and experiencing.. Did you put another jack under the end of the TTB to ensure it is level? If not do it and then either grab the splines and pull, or reach around the back and force the stub axle at the U-joint out more...

So finally got the last snap ring back on, and got driving again.... but it is now accompanied with the anti lock brake making alot of noise every single time I stop, and its right as its coming to a complete stop...every single time I stop!!!! Any one know what the problem here is? and how to fix it??? Please.

Did you get the right rotors with the abs ring? Did you damage the ring at any point? nd what kinda noise is it making?

As 91exploreron37 mentioned did you get the correct rotors? Rotors without ABS will not have a Tone ring as in the picture below.. Look at your old rotors and you'll see the tone ring. Btw you never mentioned how you finally got your snap ring back on your axle. Add this info so anyone having the same problem in the future will be able to fix it as you have..
