Something w/ rabbits. 72.5 pages of BS

guess i need to hit the JY now for that window regulator assy :(
Ah crap! So sorry!!! Totally forgot!

when are you cutting off the rear quarter panels and the roof? :D
Iz I can not strees enough! Strengthen the quarter pannels some how. There a huge problem and big targets. I've managed to destroy both of mine.:(
I might shorten the rear quarter just to minimize overhang but we'll see how it turns out once its bobbed.

I'm still stumped on the Flowmaster joke...;)
Flowmaster? I dont recall talking about Flowmasters or making a joke ;)

I wonder if the Iz-mobile will end up being heavier than a stock Explorer, or are all those holes more than just ba-ling?

You've got me wondering too. But I think it'll come out less than stock -- just the doors themselves was a huge weight saving. Before splitting, I could not move around a door with one hand but after it was all gutted, it was like carrying laptop bag. But some of this weight will be regained once the doors are put back on with some tube supporting each one. The rear hatch was a heavy dude, so there was a lot of weight saved there.

I also switched to a manual, thats some weight savings - but then the doubler probably countered all that. :(

The wiring that was ripped out is also significant. Its all sitting in a plastic bin right now which I would say probably weighs around 50 lbs with the computer.

Obviously you plan to hang the door skins, but do you have plans for a window? If so, what are you going to use. I am looking to do something similar for winter wheeling, but haven't been able to come up with a descent window solution yet.

No windows -- should it rain or snow, bring a pancho :)

Not to hijack(but in 45 pages I'm well aware I'm not the first), but this is what came to mind.

Oh yeah, good memory Danny -- I forgot CG did that (and fiberglass door skins!)

Those are my window skins now.. hehe.. I can look into having some made if theres enough interest.

I am definately interested in the windows. I've seen them before, but the original owner parted with them and the template went with them. Now that I know where they are at, maybe we can redo this. I already have a set of doors that I am going to lighten, similar to what IZ did, and then I am going to fab up some way to mount them to be removeable from my tube doors.

Oh yeah and FAKRWE has something similar going on in the back I think.

It's not the rain or snow that bothers me, it's the large chunks of mud that the tires kick up and smack you in the face with at the most inoppurtune time.

Okay, let me look into it a little more and ill let you know.

Fakrwe's is a convertable to the rear of the doors. The soft top has rollup sides, very cool. The sun roof also has a soft snap in cover.

Between yours and Paul's builds... i dont know if i should be inspired or just plain give up. :dunno:

with the lengths iz goes through to avoid mud i dont think hell have an issue there...

Yeah I agree on that comment.. He'll cut his own path to avoid mud but usually gets mud regardless like a few years ago at Rausch Creek.

Thanks but mine is all imitation from the builds I've been reading for the past year or so (most of them are desert trucks since that scene has a long background in fabrication). I have a "Fab inspiration" bookmark folder full of awesome DGAF, sick, GNAR, and BAMF builds :)

And yeah I hate mud with a passion, I dont get why some people just love to play in it. Working under your vehicle afterwards is annoying when crap is falling on your face while you're trying to unbolt something.

It'll have some sort of a floor, and then the UHMW (cutting board material) belly.

I've been going over ECU's options lately and found a few but really none of them are as developed as MegaSquirt so I ordered one unit (version 3.0) and a Stimulator module. The plan is to run a small Linux computer on board (maybe an ITX breed) and use a small (but bright) LCD monitor for gauges and stuff (the "dash"):
