Did you have any issues with the computer giving you any error messages after the swap?

The only error message I get is "check right headlamp"..but that is because I am having issues getting that one to light on the first try. if I turn it on/off a couple times, it will light and the error message wll go away.

Hey All,

I have done about 6 HID conversions of three different kinds of explorers. The 600oK and 8000K are amazing. I put 6000K in all of my trucks and 8000K in my brothers 2002. Anywho, quick question for anyone who might know. I had h13-3's the telescopic ones and the fuses were keep blowing, even burnt up a 20amp, so i took them out, then I just bought another set of h13-2's, the HID Low and Halogen high. I got the kit cheap off ebay and here is the thing, HID ignites when wired in high beam plug, but will not ignite in low beam plug. Halogen works in either or. So is there such a thing as dedicated high beams on a 9008/h-13 system? OKay, lets me try to make it a little easier to understand what I am trying to get at.... if the HID works in high beam only, is it the kit or is it my car problem?

Thanks,
j.

I just ordered 10k HIDS!

I was scared to get the 8k but my uncle put 10k in his LS and they are tremendously brighter than my stock 9004's, and so much more light, plus theyre deep blue!
I cant wait, I should have them sunday, ill do a write up, with pics

Im not sure whethe there 55 or 35..ill check the box tommrow. I guess it will say it on there?

that blows brian so the hids u ordered will fit the other car u get and what r u thinkin of getting.

Nah, i took a really good look, and ill be getting 1300$ sunday im just gonna replace a buttload of lines and all that under there, i love her too much to let her go lol

Nevermind people flashing you, is anyone getting pulled over? Our headlamps aren't designed for HID output and are therefore rumored to be illegal for our application without replacing them in favor of projectors.

Another question - where specifically are the ballasts being mounted? I need to look again but if memory serves me correctly there's plenty of room for mounting on the driver's side and almost nowhere to mount on the passenger's side.

I removed my battery (92, batteries on the passenger side) and had plenty of room to mount the ballast and relay, then on the other side, i put the ballast in the same spot, they have new compact ballasts, mine are just the regular chunky mf'ers :p

take a look at my thread:

Ill take pix of where they mounted my ballasts....they found plenty of room...

btw..my lights are like flickering now...llike not on/off just like "bumpy"...they act like your hitting a series of bumps when just sitting there....any ideas?

hmmm, your bulbs might be loose, vibrating from the engine, does it do it when the trucks off?

I'm not sure where to mount them in third gen either, but for the second gen I've found only a couple places that are practical on the passenger side. Pix would still be appreciated, thank you.

edit: Just realized I'm in the wrong thread for second gens... embarassing. I got here through an HID search

They are illegal in most jurisdictions. This discussion has been had many times on the site. It's just one of those mods (like window tint) that gets pushed to the limit and is hit/miss whether you'll be caught.

Having projectors doesn't make it any less legal if the car didn't come with HID as an option from the dealer/factory. They're just less likely to get pulled over because there are less glare with projectors, aftermarket or otherwise.

Ill test whether they flicker when the engines off tonight...never thought loose bulb. and right when it gets better weather ill get pix of my ballasts.
