mine are in my sig.
a 2wd Xsport should be about half second faster ( less weight , less drag)

thats what i have, 2wd. intake is the only mod i have, it has 3:73's as well.

with good/sticky tires you should be in the low 16s/high 15s on a cold day.
(heat slows them down)

by looking at my mods and my truck is the 4.ol ohv, 126,000 miles, royal purple oil, etc... what do you think my time would be? its 2wd also.

the ohv is typically half a second slower.

I don't personally have a time slip, but I know the new 4.0 SOHC Sport 4x4 in '97 with 4.10s was reviewed in Car and Driver. It's track times were 0-60 in 7.9, 1/4 mile in 16.2. That's all I've ever guesstimated mine to be. :)

That would be about right, I have 3.73s and ran 16.6 ,
Typically 4.10s would knock off about half a
second as compared to 3.73s so long as you can get traction..
I didnt even know you could get 4.10s from factory!

Haha. These trucks seem to have no problem getting traction. I have a 98 sport sohc w/ 4.10. It blows the doors off my old 93 with 3.27 gears and a 5spd. Thats good info to know gijoecam. Will never use it but atleast i learned something new today.

Mine will go sideways spinning tires if I nail it from a stop.
I have to ease into it for a second or two then floor it.

Know i see why you can do that. You are running some tiny tires. Plus the mods probably help. I got 31" tires and i can squel them but nothing that kicks the back end out. Still must be fun to do that though.

Maybe tiny but they are close to 12" wide
:)
the et in my sig was with the tall stockers and
you are correct with those it really didnt spin much at all.
pic with stockers at track:
http://damncarrera.com/sport.jpg
It weighed almost 4300lbs with me in it (200lbs)
These tires raised my rpm by almost exactly 10% which would make my
rear multiplication closer to a 3.90 gear.
I hope to get it to the track sometime this winter.
I am thinking 16.2-16.0 on motor and 15.8-15.5 on the 50shot
Nothing to write home about but something to do
when its too cold to be out on my boat,LOL.

only mods I see in your sig that would give extra hp are the sct and the exhaust.
maybe 10-20hp more than stock. you would still be 20-30hp down to a stock SOHC.
Its all guesswork though until you actually go to the dragstrip.

dunno , its gained me a half second on the last three vehicles I did it in.
88 Astro Van with a swapped vortec 350, 79 Hurst Olds with the original Olds 350
and my Lincoln LSC , and pretty much every Mustang and Lincoln I know that has done it has picked up 3-5 tenths once the got the right tires to use the extra torque multiplication.
Come over to the hotrodlincoln forum and I can point you to as many threads on it as you would like.
If you only gain a tenth your doing something wrong ,spinning tires,or your doing it on a vehicle that doesnt like spinning more rpm.(diesel truck would be a good example)
Thats also why I said "typically" since not all vehicles will react the same.
Some turbo cars will actually run slower with higher gears and actually run better with lower (numerically ) gears .

And your probably right, they might be 11" wide, thats why I stated "close to 12",
I didnt get a ruler and measure them for my post here, next time Ill get one and give you exact measurements.
Didnt mean to mislead anyone by that 1" difference .

I can't even break my tires loose in the wet, even for a second til the auto 4wd kicks on. Even with the same mods on stock 255/70/16s. I have like zero low end torque, once I hit 3500-4000 rpm though it screams. For an explorer anyways, ;)

I'll tackle the tires first, 275mm is 10.82" so they're around 11". I'm sure you weren't trying to mislead, but an extra inch of tire is a lot, and I just wanted to correct the info for future reference

The vehicle I gained a tenth with was my mountaineer with a 302+bolt ons. Every car is going to react a little differently to different gears. The main goal I've always seen is to be running right at the top of your 1:1 gear whatever that may be. 3rd gear for me, 4th gear for you sohc guys.

thats not typical for a 302 even stock, even though they are cammed
way small they love the gear. But as you say every vehicle is different.
Looking at your timeslip when you ran the other forum member it looks like
you had the same mph but horrible 60ft (2.5? ).
With 4.10s you should have done much better
so Im thinking your tires just werent hooking up .

I have the manual 4wd so unless I turn the knob
its off, lots of fun in 4low too! ;)
talk about suprising a few people from light to light.
:D
Mine is actually pretty hairy in the rain, have to be
very easy on the throttle or it will kick the rear out.
With the short wheelbase it doesnt take much to
get it sideways in a hurry.
