Ok - since things don't happen without pictures (you don't know how true that statement is in our house) - I thought I'd give you a few from the trip...
On US-23 in Ohio, there's a U.S. Plastics Corp. Not sure of their purpose exactly but it's a huge warehouse with discounted plastic stuff. You can even find a lid to your garbage can if the wind happened to have made off with it.
Along I-75, the rain was so hard, we had to pull over to the side of the road. We sat for about 1/2 hour. But once we got moving again, we could still see the threat of clouds in the distance hoping we drove right under it before it decided to rain again.
We know we're getting close to mom's because more of these signs pop up. As you get close - every sign you see is one of these...it's a bit sickening.
Once we got to our destination (Hot Springs, NC) the weather was about the same. Cool (at 3800 feet near the AT) but rainy every day.
But the view from mom's front window was beautiful - no matter how hazy.
The day we left, we took more pictures at an overlook on one of the curves.
A quick stop in Kentucky to see Mamaw (she passed away last summer)
and we arrived home safe and sound the next day.
All in all, the truck did great and I'm getting used to the seats
I did notice a puncture already in one of the seats - I'm pretty irritated about it. But we got good gas mileage - even up in the mountains near mom (about 22mpg) and that is unheard of for us
On the way home, we seemed to have lost the sync lady (Samantha?) but she came back after a few tries with different things. Not sure what happened there. And I think we've figured out the uSB thing - when it gets hot in that console - it shuts down. Can't prove that of course but that's what the pattern suggests.
Never had phone connectivity problems and the kids were quite comfortable with our overstuffed car
