hey guys, I work for my local county, and right behind where I work is the county jail, the inmates cut the grass about every 2 weeks or so. today I brought a police car back from the dealer and parked it in the parking lot and went to roll my windows up because it was starting to thunder, and I noticed a big crack about 2 inches in diameter right in the drivers view. The county is going to have it taken care of.

I was wondering if you guys thought it was going to be replaced or filled in with that resin crap. and if they are going to replace it is there anyway to preserve the sticker in the lower corner on the passenger side with the assembly plant? I like having that sticker there so I don't want too loose it. is there a reproduction available? the sport trac across the window is taken care of, my aunt owns a vinyl shop and already has another on the way.

first picture shows where I was parked.
second shows the actual crack,
third shows the window sticker I have and the location of the crack.
fourth is the assembly plant sticker I was referring to.

That sucks. Glad they're taking care of it. I'm sure you can get that sticker somewhere. May have to be directly from Ford at this time but you may be able to find reproductions. I had a good reproduction sticker site but I can't recall it and it was bookmarked on a laptop that barely works now. If I find it, I'll post it here.

if it is a true sticker you should be able to spray it with WD40 and then remove it in one piece to preserve the sticker.

That's too big a place to resin fill, IMO, and right in your field of vision ...... nope, wouldn't accept anything except a new windshield.

Get a single-edge razor blade and some Windex, spray the glass/sticker and CAREFULLY work the blade under the sticker. Use the glass cleaner liberally as you work. It'll come off and when it drys you can reapply it to your new windshield. The glass guy may even do it for you. They're familiar with this procedure.

Well one reason I like my county job I got a car to go with it a nice black with yellow stripes and cool lights. We are getting new ones soon no more Crown Vics going to Ford Taurus interceptors.

I may be replacing my windshield soon. It has so many little rock chips that the reflection from the sun makes it nearly impossible to see! This is my 3rd 2nd-gen Explorer and all of them have been made in the Louisville plant except my current Explorer which was made at the St. Louis plant, so there is a totally different sticker. I pealed it off and photoshopped my own version. I am currently having it printed on a "clear decal" which allows it to be stuck inside the glass but displayed outside. Should be interesting how it turns out... I like the Louisville sticker more because it actually says "Explorer" on it.
All my friends think I am crazy for putting so much value into the little sticker...
