I have a 1998 Explorer AWD with the 5 liter V8. I am consistently getting a Check Engine light because of the oxygen sensor. I have changed the oxygen sensor that is accessible under the car on the exhaust, and that cleared the check engine for a while, but the check engine light is back.

Is there another oxygen sensor in this 5.0 liter V8?

The one that I think you changed was the driver side, like in the pic below (P0153 - O2 sensor circuit slow response Bank2 Sensor1- Driver's side front O2 sensor):

Thanks! That diagram and the link to the removal of the center console was exactly what I needed.

Sonic you are correct. Many people get this confused as with a lot of V8 engines including non v8 engines, bank 1 is in fact the drivers side of the vehicle

To where the Ford 5.0 and a ton of their other gas engines are actually opposite where 1-4 is on the passenger side and 5-8 is the drivers side. Versus say my Hemi Jeep is 1/3/5/7 bank 1 drivers side, 2/4/6/8 bank 2 passenger side.

I was confused too, until I had to change my spark plugs :)

I was wondering if you had a part number for the oxygen sensor.
