I haven't checked Fordparts.com yet but I'm guessing the connector is part of the harness and perhaps not sold separately.

Peter

I see under the seat there is one cable with tag AU5T 14D231 J4CP7

Another cable AU5T 14C687 J4CP7 going into the seat

when I try 14D231 or 14C687 in fordparts.com, they don't show up, but ebay does show some listings for AU5T 14D231 J4CP7, and it is called "10 Way Power Seat Wiring Harness", however no result for 14C687.

On Fordparts.com it appears for driver seat the seat wiring harness is 14A699A and 14A699C, however can't find a real picture online, so no idea if these are correct

I am wondering which cable is the one need replaced

I found this;

14S411B
(WPT-1186)
Ford Wiring Harness Repair Pigtail
Driver Seat, Sensor - Seat Belt, 2 CAVITY

Not sure if that is what you are after.
I typed in "Wiring Harness" and 'Wiring Harness Pigtail Repair Kit' or something like that came up so I selected it. I switched the items per page to 50 and the above came up on page 6 of 15. I didn't go any further.

Peter

Thanks Peter,

They look like

WPT-1172 (Gold)
8U2Z-14S411-ABB

WPT-1244 (Silver)
AU2Z-14S411-BMA

fordparts.com say they cost about $50 in total

Tried to order part wpt1172 and wpt1244 through dealer today, I was told they cannot order wpt1172.

I am wondering if I got the part number wrong, however based on the picture I saw online vs the one in my car, these 2 parts look the same.

Has anyone got dealer changed connector, what are the parts number?

Has airbag light ever come back after connector replaced?

Doc43054/powcha123

Have you fixed it, if so how did you fix it

I was able to keep airbag light off for a few months by repluging the connector , but now it would only stay off for a few days then come back on.

Fixed

I am sorry to say I do not know exactly what Ford did, but as this was under warranty, they finally rectified the problem. I believe it is that huge plug under the driver's seat towards the middle of the car. The reason I feel this way is that I have had a few items get kicked up in that area and have had the light come on again. After removing all the stuff and moving the seat a bit, the light went out.

Air bag light issues

Does anyone know which connector under the driver seat is for the airbag sensor? I am 6'8" tall and my wife is 5'5". The dealer fixed the issue, but after a couple months of the seat moving up and back a pin or wire is broken. I have electrical experience and plan to just solder and heat shrink the wires and eliminate the connector. I just want to be sure I am splicing the correct connector.

Thanks

^^ Your thread has been merged with this existing one.

Under the seat there is a yellow connector, that is the one

It is 2 pin connector

Sorry, but your post is not clear. Why do you think something is broken? Are you seeing wires hanging loose?

Simply unseating the large connector, and then cleaning the pins and reseating it will often fix the airbag light staying on.

These are the photos I took

I used to replug them, it would work for a few months, but recent try only last days, now it simply not working for me.

Thanks for the help, my post may have not been clear for some but the yellow connector is what I was looking for. My issue is high resistance in the connector causing the airbag light to stay on. With my height difference of my wife and moving the seat it could also be a broken wire under the insulation, I have seen this before as well. My plan is direct solder the wires and forget the connector, hoping to fix the airbag light. The fix needs to hold up for about another year until I trade this pile!

Thanks everyone

fx8racer,

see my photo above, hopefully it helps.

From what I see, the wires on the connector move with seats, so when you move seats, there is almost no tear on the connector.

I simply believe the connector self is not designed well and not reliable. Also it seems you might need to remove seats to do it as the space under the seats is very tight.

The connector is under both driver and passenger seats

Thanks for posting the photos hpad06. Much appreciated and very helpful.

Thanks again, nice pics, very helpful.

I cleaned the pins on the connector and twisted them slightly to make better contact. Applied dielectric grease, and the airbag light stayed off all of 2 days! I am so tired of this POS Explorer! I want to cut off the connector and use solder or butt connectors, but just thought I could save the factory harness. Does anyone have any other thoughts.

Unless others have a different problem, the connector that has been reseated and solved the problem is the 1.5" or so wide gray colored connector under the center of each seat. There is a plastic lever you have to pivot to get it to release.

With mine, after I unplugged/replugged the connector, my airbag warning light went off and stayed off. I first did the passenger side and that didn't fix it. The driver's side did.

I cleaned and greased every connector under the seat and I know which one that is. There is also a smaller gray 4 pin connector under and to the right of the larger connector you mentioned. I think I will try reseating that larger connector and adding more grease before I start cutting and splicing. Seems so silly with only 48k miles and a 42k price tag!!
