The verdict is coming soon.

It took between 500 and 1000 miles to start working for me..
YesThe AT205 you mean?
Trade the Explorer in for an electric golf cart. No oils needed means no leaks.
no just driveshaft. and if it doesnt crank, id first see battery related stuff, make sure thats good. good ole trick is try to crank it and wack the starter with a mallet see if that makes it workOT, my starter just died. No crank when turning over. Does the wheel need to come off to replace the starter because it's AWD?
Oh the driveshaft needs to come off to replace the starter? How big of a job is this? I looked on YouTube and the guy said it's just 2 bolts right to the starter from the driver l side under carriage?no just driveshaft. and if it doesnt crank, id first see battery related stuff, make sure thats good. good ole trick is try to crank it and wack the starter with a mallet see if that makes it work
at least on 4x4 sohc it had to come out. once you surmount that it is easy but iirc one bolt tucked up there little cactus prick of boltOh the driveshaft needs to come off to replace the starter? The truck cold started super rough this afternoon. barely started and it had to crank for a good 5 seconds and barely started. Sounded like a starter that was about to die. Then I started it up about 8 or 9 times after that with no issues. Then I shut the truck off and literally went to start it back up less than 5 mins after and it wouldn't even crank when turning over. Just heard a click.
We tried the mallet trick with another coworker who got under the truck and the first time just about went but no luck after about 30 tries.

did the lights dim etc when that happened? usually a slow start would probvaly be a battery, or at least the first thing id check. how okd is it?
Oh I see. Looks pretty accessible except that one bolt that is difficult to get to?at least on 4x4 sohc it had to come out. once you surmount that it is easy but iirc one bolt tucked up there little cactus prick of bolt

I had a starter die abruptly, more than onceOh I see. Looks pretty accessible except that one bolt that is difficult to get to?
No dimming of the lights. The battery is about 10 months old. It’s also an interstate high CCA battery, I think it’s 900 CCA.
Just heard a noticeable click when turning over so figured it’s the starter. Surprised it died abruptly.
