I have 360,000 on my 2011 limited 3.5 NA
What major repairs have you done to it over the years? Has the water pump been replaced?

My 2012 explorer mileage is 214k
And this what i replaced :

Epas when mileage 180k (cost me 420$)

Water pump it 213k (cost me 276$)

The water pump price 90$ and repair price 186$
This prices in my country (saudi arabia) mybe it will less or more in your country

*Periodic maintenance that I do :

- i use full synthetic oils only and change it every 4000miles
- replace air filter every 12k
- change trans fluid every 40k
- Replace plugs every 45k
- change coolant every 50k
- Clean fuel injectors every 60k
You must own a four cylinder Explorer if the water pump repair was so inexpensive. Or you had a warranty. Here in the USA, water pump replacement for a V6 5th generation Explorer costs between $1.5-$2k USD. This is due to the timing chains needing to be removed to replace the water pump. Then many people install new chains and guides while the engine is apart for another $500-$700.

Its v6 3.5 but in my country KSA the manpower lower cost than manpower in USA
Another thing They replace water pump without removing engine they only removing the right front tire:

2011 xlt limited 3.5 NA
360,078 miles
Giving the benefit of the doubt, I'm assuming the Explorer was purchased in 2010, therefore, 36,000 miles per year were put on the vehicle. Assuming 50 weeks a year of work, that's 720 miles per five day work week or 144 miles per workday, a lot of highway driving by any standards.

I'm also curious about major repairs.

2012 Ford Explorer XLT 3.5 V6 with 394,000 miles same engine same trans if you’d like a picture of the odometer I’d be happy to post.

The procedure is the same here but our labor rates are high.

Congratulations Cole. Was the water pump ever replaced?

Peter

My mom recently sold her 2011 with 292k miles on it. The water pump never had to be replaced, but the A/C compressor did which wasn't cheap. The windshield trim of course had to be replaced, the door keypad had to be replaced, the steering assembly or whatever it was had to be replaced early on (under warranty at least), and some other things here and there. The powertrain was super reliable, though.

The turbo was replaced in 2016 and the air condition lines and the rear heating and air conditioning assembly replaced in 2017.The turbo was replaced before I purchased it. Both repairs were done under warranty.
Welcome to the Forum.
What year Explorer and trim do you have? What is the current mileage?

Peter

I’ve got a 2012 Ford Explorer XLT V6 with 394,000 miles on the odometer. Same engine and same transmission see if you can beat me.

Got a 2016 Limited 3.5L 4WD with just over 155k miles, the rear A/C lines and core and the factory water pump were replaced around 150k (under my extended warranty) but otherwise it’s all original. No PTU, transmission or other common issues so far.

2014 Ford Explorer XLT 4WD - 189,500 miles no major repairs

I'll chime in. 2016 FPIU with 152,000 on the clock. Previous Wisconsin State Patrol unit, so mostly highway miles. Anything that needed to be done was repaired/replaced. I got lucky with this one...

My ex-state trooper '16 has 170Kmi with 13K hrs, but 9K idle hours. No CEL; no rattles or vibrations; no body damage or rust (TN); and the WP is just barely starting to weep.

That's a good-looking vehicle. Don't let the WP go too long or it could ruin the engine.

Peter

Don't let the WP go too long...
Already bought everything except the camshaft locks, which I'm going to borrow from a friend.

...it could ruin the engine.
How? The coolant that gets past the bearing seals just drains onto the A/C compressor & then the ground.

Coolant leakage can also be happening in other directions, such as into the oil. As long as you're frequently checking your oil and coolant for unexpected milkshakes you can keep doing a bit of short term driving.
