My mom traded in her 2018 platinum with 24k miles on it for a brand spank in new 2025 ST

She was tired of having a white explorer. Coming out of the store all suvs are white! So she wanted a blue one. Can’t get blue in the platinum package and they needed to make a deal before the end of the year … tax reasons
So she ended up with a blue 25 st

400 horsies from a 3.0l v6 woweee

I haven’t seen ir driven it yet, just got the pictures. She’s after some snow tires now, of course the new wheels are 21” so the old tires won’t work…. Anyone want to buy some slightly used snow tires? Hahahaha

Looking forward to driving this thing

My mom loves her fords!!!

Looks sharp!!!! Now can write off depreciation (assuming thats why the 18 was traded) again haha.

If I were to get a 5 or 6g explorer Id get it in black w/ a push bar 😂 or better yet a PIU

Also were on 21s now? And I thought 18s were big........ making the 15s feel old and the 14s archaic

Her 18 was a great car, not one issue.of course they struggle to put 25k on a truck anymore
She literally got rid of it because she was tired of the white and not being able to spot it in the lot. As we get older our needs change

They have been over there trying to program the garage door opener for two days now… I’ll head over there and rescue them hahahaha I said “look in the owners manual” boy was that a can of worms… there is no manual “it’s all on the screen now “dad says lol poor things

That's awesome! I'm sure you're both going to enjoy it. :D

Sharp looking ST. Definitely an upgrade. Funny how @Fix4Dirt is saying 21s are big, where over on the ST forum were complaining about the 21x9s being inadequate and putting 22x10.5 on these SUVs. :) Explorers have come a long way!

Well our trucks all have 15s car has 14s we have 2a car and the Ranger with 17s... nothing bigger hahaha! One of the neighbors has 37s on 15s... 21s are cool though gotta say!

Compared to the pizza cutter 14 inch wheels on my 87 ranger, 21s are huge.

My 2025 Aviator has 22" wheels! Not really what I wanted but no choice. The ride is not as bad as I expected.

It’s hard to beat some big meats still though. I’m sure your neighbors Explorer looks awesome.

21’s wont make it to my house! Not enough rubber for the rocks lol and no ground clearance
I’m still running around on 17s lol

Got the home link garage door programmed
Set the ambient light to green for my mom
Then ordered a set of weather techs, the old ones will not fit

I Love this thing
Tons of interior room!

Great looking explorer! I just love these things honestly. I love that they have yet to abandon some of that brick shape like they have with the escape. I love me an SUV that *feels* like an SUV. I think the styling throughout has been pretty sharp as well. I'd love me something a little newer with the amenities but I can't get past the fact that I love the way my little two door looks and feels.

^^^So much this! Haha. If I were to get a new SUV Id go either 4runner or X depending on the usage. (Though Im not sure about the new 4runner 8 speed but I like the prev gen at least)

The thing is sweet! Went with dad to get studded snow tires for it yesterday we ended up getting some 18” wheels and studded made in USA 265 tires. I like how it displays a big red ST on the ground under the mirrors. The screen is easy to use and the interface is simple.. can search through the owners manual … really neat

I will get some pics of the wheel tires setup and the new floor matte, weather Tec for 3’rows and a husky for the cargo matt

For 400 horsies it sure is quiet, my dad exited the explorer and it was still running.. he didn’t pins the engine stop button lol
I could tell something was running but it was very hard to determine it was the Explorer. Could be we are both getting old and can’t hear ahit lol

When ive driven something with push button I sometimes forget it on... why I need my loud pipes! When I get to the lab or shop at the lab the chiller plant next to it makes alot of noise so I can never hear anything if its on haha! Ranger is too quiet too but at least I have the key to remind me hehe

On the topic of the screen I’ve been trying to design car interfaces for some little home coding/design projects and it’s so hard to get what you want in a car without going overboard. I always look back to ford and the older UConnect systems when trying to figure out design philosophy. Because my car’s instruments don’t communicate with anything else I’ve been considering taking the shape of my cluster and using it to make a custom semidigital cluster. But this is a very big project that’s likely to die in my mind because I overcomplicate things 🤣 (sorry for the hijack)

Mom is pimpin an ST !

400Hp!? Wow awesome

I’m surprised with the grill and black accents - why not get the active with active comfort and 20” rims for a little less?? Just curious what made mom go for st

I didn’t realize it was the 400hp at first - I saw st line

But when I saw a mommy with 400hp I was even more like woahhhhh awesome !

If it wasn’t for the extra 15k and the fact I live in the second hilliest neighborhood in USA I’ll stick to my active with oddly oddly poor 17mpg !!
