I need a digital camera soon. I finally got these pictures of a couple of recent runs in January. The pics below are of a Big Bear run. We wanted to do the John Bull but as we got farther into the trail the snow and ice got worse, not a good combo for my low clearance and no sliders, and one of the Rovers had open diffs. So we had to settle for Gold Mountain. We will be back.

Airing down at the start of the John Bull.

The rest of the pics were taken at Rowher Flats last week. I went with a buddy from work who just bought an Austrian Pinzgauer. Not a looker 4x4 at all but very effective. Locked, portal axles, ultra low crawl ratio, 18 inches of clearance, syncromesh transfer case, etc. There's a pick here where he rolled/near rolled it, so we tipped it back, put on a new tire and off he went. No body damage when your body is made of similar material to my explorers frame.

Here's me after I high centered going up a hill.

This hill is pretty steep and very very loose. Here are some shots of a bunch of rigs trying to make it up. The only ones that made it were the full size Dodge with a rear locker and 35's (showing what a long wheelbase can do on hillclimbs) and a locked Jeep with 37" swampers. Both needed lots of speed.

Pinzgauer near roll after taking a bad line. No power steering and a 3.5 ton vehicle makes for hard steering.

Ya Stic-O I realized the light was out when I saw that pic.

The USFS brought a dozer through a lot of that area and made some of the more challenging areas not so challenging. :( But there are still some fun spots, especially for low clearance vehicles like mine.

Let me know when you wanna make a run and and we can get a group together.
