I got the 2 rear mounts off today and all the drivers side ones are loose. I'll be headed back tomorrow to get the rest. CDW-how are the rear mounts unique? The ones on my '01 are the same as these. Oh and I took them off a 97, not a 96 like I said i was going too.

Hopefully you can get it sorted out. As for the AAL, it just works the same whether the leaf is under or over the axle. I hate to ask, but do you have pictures?

If my measurements are correct then the body bushings from a '96 explorer will fit on an '01 sport. As long as I can get them off of the 96 (they are in excellent shape btw) then i'll guinea pig this for everyone else with this issue. I'll update with findings tomorrow after the junkyard run.

My ABS light has been on since 2009. It has stayed on even after front hubs have been replaced twice. I just put on a rear Motorcraft VSS and the light is still on. Oh well, can't win them all I guess.

The second gen. explorers (and maybe even 1st gen.) had the fuel tank on the drivers side which caused the "gangsta" lean. Passenger side springs aren't so fatigued so putting them on opposite sides almost corrects the lean and gives renewed strength on the drivers side. And I say "almost"...

I put a '96 4 door leaf pack on my '01 sport. AAL increase stability, towing capacity and give it a little lift. Shackles give you a lift as well but decrease stability and don't increase towing capacity any. I have 3" shackles on mine right now and it does just fine. It'll be getting stock...

I think you'd have to do a longer trip to get more accurate mpg's. I have an entire book of every fill up I have ever done since I bought my Ex in 2007. It just seems more accurate if it gets run almost dry then fill it up. But if that's what you're getting then that's awesome!

Another question. When the stock body mount bolts are heated up, does this damage the OEM body mount insulators?

I've thought about going with 4.56s but I don't tow the trailer that much. It's only if I did tow it more that I would get 4.56s

That's a nice gauge. I'll definitely get one when i do the fluid and filter. If you find those pictures of it and where it's mounted, post them up, I wouldn't mind seeing where it's mounted. What is a high temperature for these transmissions? 200+?

It's about time to do a fluid/ filter change on it too. Was the temp gauge installation a pain? Who makes the temp gauge you have in yours?

Welcome! My family was all Chevy but I bought the same Ex as my first vehicle, sure got alot of heck (and still do) for it! Give it lots of TLC and it'll the most reliable vehicle you own. Oh and these ex's don't have the LATCH system either.

What did everyone do with the tow hooks on the front on your body lifted Sports? Cut thru the bumper and remount them? Or just toss them on the shelf?

I know i'm thread digging here :D Sorry! I believe that 86 and up mustangs share the 8.8 along with our explorers. So, am I able to use a mustang ring and pinion in my ex as long as its the same spline count? The spline count i'm looking for is the pinion spline count or the axle shaft spline...

1 more quick question. Is the stock front axle ratio the same as the rear stock? Would 4.10s in the rear and 4.11s in the front be compatible? That's 2 questions but oh well :)

It is my dd and I am on the highway alot in the summertime. So I do want to keep the RPM's fairly low for mpg. Why do you feel 4.56s would be better?
