    Trouble with lift need help

You don't need to SAS to lift the front. Do some searching here, you can use a ranger body lift, you can use certain Ranger Lift Spindles and combine that with a torsion twist to match an SOA in the rear.

Welcome to the forum, do a search on how to lift the 2nd gen Explorer. You have to use a ranger body lift, and you can do a shackle and/or add a leaf along with torsion twist for a small suspension lift. There are different options out there.

Welcome to Explorer Forum, this is the greatest source of information for Explorer's, you might be able to find the answers here on the site that pertain to your issue. If you cannot find what's troubling you, then your best bet is to create a thread for the issue under the transmission section...

    Glen's 03 1500 LS

Well the ole Explorer, seems to be getting tired and towing just seems to be more of a struggle for it anymore than it should be. Plus I like to leave the sway bars disconnected on it for off road. I love Fords but not a big fan of the 4.6 and 5.4's that was offered in the older used F-150's...

    Tighten your caliper bracket bolts!

I figure this thread should be bumped for any newbies....I ran into this issue....I haven't messed with the brakes on my truck for a long while, and heard some clunking but couldn't figure it out and didn't give the brakes a thought so I went on to wheeling over the weekend and noticed it was...

Well the Explorer did great out wheeling on Sunday, did a little more harder stuff than usual and impressed a few folks, I didn't need pulled at all :D hopefully get some pics from folks then. In the past couple months, I've replaced all three O2 Sensors, plugs/wires, PCV Valve, fixed EGR...

Anyone ever swap a 5 speed into a 5.0 AWD Automatic?

Here is the link, this guy is the one that did the swap http://www.explorerforum.com/forums/showthread.php?t=248285 I think you may reconsider this once you see everything involved...

Anyone ever swap a 5 speed into a 5.0 AWD Automatic?

Search the forum, there was a member on here that used an F-150 Trans and used the F-150 t-case and I believe custom made drive shafts. There is a lot of modification and cursing involved in a project like that.

    01 explorer sport LS swap

Didn't receive emails for the thread. But I like your ideas, some wont since its GM in Ford but its all about being different and doing what makes you happy. That truck will be a beast when its done, I like the 5.3 in my pickup, first automatic I ever had that would spin the tires in first and...

Unfortunately it looks like I'm skipping out on the show completely this year. I injured my knee which obviously makes it a pain to walk much and haven't been able to return to work for a couple weeks and can't for a couple months, that doesn't stop bills so I'm going to have to play it safe and...

questions on 2nd & 3rd gen awd mountaineers

The AWD system is always engaged, its a 60/40 split, if the rear wheels spin too much, then the system reverses itself in providing more power to the front wheel to pull it from whatever situation you're in. Sometimes the viscous coupling doesn't always function properly as to not providing...

    Nate's 2005 Explorer XLT 4X4

I like the looks of your old Ex and love Explorers, but you would be better off keeping the jeep, it has better capabilities that you like unless you plan on doing a sas or two on the Explorer...plus who knows what else may come up on the Explorer that the guy is neglecting to tell you..

    Pugly

I personally would clean it up well with brake cleaner and use rtv as a bandaid to stop the leak. Good luck with whatever choice you make.

Explorer not functioning the t-case...or showing lights

No, I didn't match letters....the only difference I knew of between that of that 95,96-97 was that 97 had the CV style front driveshaft which I had already thought out....I even matched wires from the existing to the replacement transfer case....

Explorer not functioning the t-case...or showing lights

Ok, I've trouble shot this myself since I know Explorer's pretty well by now. I did a transfer case swap on the 97 Explorer with a 96 Case and at first after the swap the test, it switched to hi, low and back to high. Now the truck does not even switch to high, the light on the dash does not...

Doesn't necessarily matter to me where the wheeling takes place...hoping to have the Aussie in by then (working takes up too much time :p: )..her Ex will not be hitting the trails, she likes how "pretty" it is.

Yeah mine is bubbling bad, it just needs fixed, it maybe 205k miles but I ain't gettin rid of it for anything :p: plus I want my paint to match afterwords. And with that kinda condition it's hard to fix right at home.

Thanks. Haven't figured out what they are from honestly, they are steelies with a chrome over lay. They have Ford stamped on them. They were off of a first gen Ex I had before but I haven't seen these wheels on any small Ford trucks before.

I don't know how to reply to that...I've only the Tt in the front, the only place it rubs is at full lock when turned to the left the driver side rubs the truck frame it's self. I also don't have a sway bar front or rear at any time while driving.

I really like them, they do great in the snow and trail riding. Like another mud tire, they're noisy on the road but that's alright.

Well I might as well post a couple updated pictures of mine.... 1996 Explorer, manual 1354 Transfer Case, front axle is now "live" all the time, 4.88 gears front and rear. Mud Claw 33X12.50 15's (Cooper brand) Torsion Twist/Shackle Lift. No trimming needed.

    97 Beauty, another one...

I'll also explain why it needs a transfer case. When its shifted into Auto/High the shift will not complete unless you tap the case with a hammer and then once you shift into park or neutral then back to a gear it slips out again. But once you shift it into 4low it works fine. So the plan is to...
