    gears or tires first?

4.56's.. You won't regret it, 4.88's are fine too, especially for autos. Although imho, for a 5-speed manual it's a little over the top near 75 mph, when running 31's for sure.

    Finally 91 2dr EB 4x4

The pics are in my photo gallery.... As far as plans,,,, I'm thinking keeping it stock for now... Not enough time to work on Anne's Explorer and my 78 Bronco as it is.... otherwise..... I would lift it too..:hammer: Looks like you both have some nice rides as well.

    Finally 91 2dr EB 4x4

Well, I finally found what i was looking for...! Being my other half (Girlpower) has a very well built 94' XL we've had for awhile.... I figured it was time to get a second Explorer 2 door, since she has had her Girlpower 4x4 stickers on it.... I just can't drive it anymore, if you know what i...

Shock Mount Question (fun with MS paint)

Kirby and morrisey0, One word of advice if I may. If you weld your brackets at the sway bar holes make sure your bracket gives the shock full mobility when your axle moves without binding the shock on the side of the bracket.... If you mount it at the sway bar hole. My recommendation...

Shock Mount Question (fun with MS paint)

No problem guys, I didn't really clarify myself too good. The U bracket I'm referring to was the lower shock mounting bracket you would be useing in your original plan. quote/ id50 I figured the possibility of more force being forced sideways would just move the bracket since it is only held...

    ARB questions

We have 4.56's and don't regret going that route. The 8.8 stays cooler on the freeway w/4.56's and the gears are somewhat stronger than 4.88's. If you want deeper gears then have your cake and eat it too with a 3.8 to 1 transfer case. IMHO, if you have an auto trans I would go w/ 4.11's...

Shock Mount Question (fun with MS paint)

Been There Done That. Guys, I don't recommend this set up for two reasons.... 1. You still have some off set in relation to the top mount even just sitting there with out movement. 2. Now an even more important angle comes into play here. After installing my other halfs (Girlpower4x4)'s...

Who has pics of Bronco Fullsizes??

I wheel with two other guys that have 460's in a 78 & 79 Bronco. My 400M gets about 20 percent better MPG's on the hwy and probably off road too. Also the 400M has the biggest of stroke of any gas engine Ford produced during this era, including the 460... This equates directly to torque and...

Who has pics of Bronco Fullsizes??

Rick how the heck are ya'...:) In case you hadn't noticed Girlpower4x4 does all the talking for me now since it is "officially" her "X" if you know what I mean... Besides since she put the Girlpower4x4 stickers on it. I just can't seem to put myself behind the wheel, if you know what I...

    MAF sensor

just a thought, Wouldn't you have to upsize your injectors to take full advantage of the top end available? I remember the 2.6L Capri's could really rev and surprisingly stomp some smog V8's back in the mid-seventy's. And that motor is what basically started the 60*V6,2.8,2.9,4.0L engine...

    ARB D35 any reviews?

Hi, ALL We our looking for opinions re: the RD39 locker. We are seriously considering this purchase. Last May, I was talked out of the trac-loc for the front. I'm glad now because it looks like after using the "search" people don't seem to have as much problems as they did with the older...

    Holding 6" front coils w/bracket?

We are disconnecting the front sway bar now when we wheel off road. Since we're doing this i'm interested in what you guys are doing to keep the coils from falling out of the upper spring tower? Any pics of this mod would be great. I'm thinking of some type of j-hook or something like an...

    Clutch Failure?

Derrick, good to hear from you again. I noticed you have a few more upgrades as well since our last chat. Actually I wasn't driving it. I built it for my other half who is now the full owner. This ICE POND was VERY DEEP and it even stopped TWO FULLY locked BRONCO's and one with 35"M/T claws...

    Clutch Failure?

Don't know what's up? Our Explorer was in a deep puddle and it now seems to be in neutral all the time. Yes, it did loose all the slave cylinder floid after checking it onshore :-) We refilled it but still no lockup of the disc. I thimk the seals on the slave shrinked when entering the cold...

    35's w/6"lift

This is Steve's Gal here, I just want to say he has done a GREAT job cutting out the fenders on my 94" Explorer, thanks for all the help and suggestions! I do not yet have pictures with the 35's, since we are going wheeling Saturday to try them out, but you can check out other pictures of my...

    35's w/6"lift

I put the 35's on today! I'm retorqueing the suspension tomorrow, It hasn't been done since we installed it 7 months ago! too many runs and feels like it now! Thanks Colin & Paul for the go ahead advise! I know a straight axle is lurking down the road.

Manual BW 13-54 swap info needed

One of our best upgrades! We changed ours out last summer from a Ranger. The best drivetrain investment since the 4.56's! Plus the ARB rocker switches almost literally snapped into where the electric 4x4 switches were. We now use that POS electric t-case as an added weight for our carport...

    Locker For 8.8, Opinions Please

Highly Recommend ARB locker! One word of caution though on the 8.8 ARB. We have the 2nd generation unit as well. If you have the 8.8 with a serious angle such as yours may be tilted for the driveline angle too (soa), you may have to vent the axle on the passenger side as well. Or you can drill...

    35's w/6"lift

Thanks for the reply. Do you guys think that the body will be OK other than the rear of the front fenders. I'm concerned about tagging the rear inside wheel well's. I really can't sawzall there. Does anyone have that concern or problem? Please let me know now Anne is already wheelin' out the...

    35's w/6"lift

35's w/6"lift ? My Anne's Explorer listed below with specs, will be getting my 35" BFG mudders that i took off my Bronco. Will Bushwacker cut-outs be enough with trimming on the fenders for her to wheel with? I want to go the cheapest way possible yet functional. 8" wheel but what offset will...

    Lift for 93

6"Skyjacker w/soa rear here! Peter, Go with the 6" Skyjacker & soa rear! We are using our rear stock springs with welded perches aligning the axle for proper driveline angle too! The ride is imho, better than stock! We are running nitro shocks up front with Rancho RS 9000's in the rear with...

UPDATED ARB locker discharging gear oil

ARB passing oil maybe solved Hi guys I know it's been awhile and it looks like this issue may finally be put to rest. That is all we wanted in the first place. Sorry for the bandwidth. But I figured those with this issue would enjoy the whole article. BTW, we'll let everyone know if this...

UPDATED ARB locker discharging gear oil

Matt, A bigger diff cover makes sense. Check this out. After talking with another person as well, he suggested the case maybe building up pressure not being able to vent on to the drivers side with the ARB locker. This of course is where our vent tube is at!lol. If this is true then either...

UPDATED ARB locker discharging gear oil

Has anyone else had or is having problems with the updated 8.8 arb locker? My compressor is discharging gear oil even when not in use out the solenoid port. But when the solenoid relieves the pressure upon unloading the pressure to the locker a fair amount of spray is developing under where the...
