Plastic welding- PA6+ PPE.
No, but if in doubt, I'd just rough up the surfaces and use epoxy, or sensor safe RTV if it needs to flex. Can you be more specific about what you are doing?- J_C

Torn ball joint boots
I am cost-conscious with my '98, so here is what I did: Replaced both lower ball joints. This does not require an alignment to be done. Mine were shot, not just the boots. I got the larger BJ press loaner tool from Advance Auto parts, which has a taller cup in it than their smaller BJ press...- J_C

Brake light switch
1) To determine the fault. That can go a long way in determining what to do next. Is it as simple as paying a premium for the motorcraft part instead? Maybe. Maybe not. Motorcraft may have outsourced manufacturing to other than the factory OEM supplier, after all these years. 2) If all...- J_C

Brake light switch
What did the contacts look like? If not gold plated, or if tarnished, I might have polished up the contacts a little with brasso/etc polish. Is it possible the switch is working itself loose and you might have been able to just reinstall same switch to solve this?- J_C

There will be sensor differences, IIRC. You can have your PCM sent off to a service to have them flash a tune without PATS on it.- J_C

Which Capacity cooling systeme explorer 99 V8 ??
I can't tell anything from the pics. Here is a diagram. Notice that there is a wide top plate on the radiator, do not measure there. Measure thickness below the top plate at the fins. A single core radiator will have a fin (core) thickness of about 1". A dual core will be a bit more than 2"...- J_C

Explorer 1998, fuel pump connectors ? 4 / 7 pin

Explorer 1998, fuel pump connectors ? 4 / 7 pin
I am confused. You state the pressure sensor hole is blinded plastic. Does this mean, since your vehicle is not in the US, that it simply does not have some of the US emissions circuits, so does not use the tank pressure sensor at all? If you do not have a pressure sensor, then there is no...- J_C

4.0L SOHC V6 - COLD AIR INTAKE (TRANSMISSION FAULT?)
The (single) rear pipe diameter will still be far more of a restriction than the stock intake. I thought my SOHC sounded good too, when my muffler went out, but that got old after a few months.- J_C

Cruise Control self test.
Can you elaborate on "both switches and their circuits test good"? Just wondering how exhaustive the test was, if all the way to the CC module, and that the switches return to open circuit when the pedal is released (not just the switches tested in isolation)? They are both just giving the CC...- J_C

4.0L SOHC V6 - COLD AIR INTAKE (TRANSMISSION FAULT?)
Keep in mind that there is little to no benefit to a CAI on a 4L SOHC. Even if it's tuned, the exhaust is the restriction. I imagine that you just disturbed some wires. Do 4 high and low still work? You do still have the MAF sensor, did not delete it?- J_C

Compact spare tire
Just so you know where it's leaking, spray some soapy water on it and then as it deflates, you'll see the bubbles. 28 years is just too old for a tire... better that it deflated right away instead of at speed, cornering, etc.- J_C

Yeah that's the problem with that PDF, not only no index but also, jumping around in it is slow. Maybe I need a different PDF reader. I thought about using some utility to break it down into multiple smaller PDFs, but it didn't look easy to find good break points to do it.- J_C

Solved 4x4 not engaging
You can apply 12V to the motor out of the transfer case to see if it works, but do put it back in the original position when reinstalling. It might also be held together with screws, so IF they aren't too corroded to take out, you could open it up, check the brushes, lube the bearings and...- J_C

2002 XLS brake line leak.
Ideally you would replace the flex sections with more flexible line like nickel copper and put a few ~2" loops in it for strain relief. The flexible sections are not just to aid in vehicle assembly but rather to not bend the line back and forth as much in the same spot, to spread that out away...- J_C

PCM replacement and PATS
We may be using different terms. I don't usually see people calling that halo transceiver an immobilizer module but that seems to be the same part. I could be wrong but was under the impression that the B1213 is just an alert, not a show stopper that would prevent the vehicle from starting...- J_C

Knowing what the B codes were might help. A new immobilizer would only help if that is the problem. If the keys still need programmed in, that won't change needing to do it. You can probably find a step by step description of using Forscan to program in keys. You'll need a windows host...- J_C

I don't know what to make of that. If the light doesn't blink fast for the original key, but does fast for the clone, that means it rejected the clone, not that the original is necessarily dead. If you were to insert a key blank cut to the right shape but with no transponder module in it at...- J_C

The newer posts in this topic make no sense without pics or elaboration. Is the ring ripped? Is it stretched? Why can't it just slip back on? Does it slide around when back on, like it needs some contact adhesive? If it is silicone rubber, that material tends to exude out silicone oil over...- J_C

The power supply board, or that subsection of another board, is a common fault. If your speaker wires are shorting out, that too, could cause a failure, more likely the output transistor(s) then. If you're handy with a multimeter and can solder, then open it up and see if you can find the...- J_C
