RV Update / Upgrade Thread
It's automatic. Only has one button, and that's to change the battery type, which is missing the orange light in the selection, green sealed, orange gel and red flooded. Now it's, green, lime green and red. It's not a MPPT charger, old style Renogy Wanderer. It did get up to 13.3 volts today...- BKennedy

I left the solar controller disconnected overnight. It seems to be charging faster today, but is still constricting PV to under 12.6 volts. It should be at 14.2 in an absorption charge.- BKennedy

Took a look in the bay, plenty of room for a charge controller. The black panel is thin plastic, so I would need something a little sturdier, like thin plywood.- BKennedy

Now, I'm looking at solar chargers I can mount in the basement storage with a cabled remote display/control. Bkennedy's SAS and Rebuild Thread
Need mud terrains. I've had AT's before and wasn't happy with the off road traction. I've had Yokohama Geolanders, BFG KM2's, Goodyear MTR's, and the Maxxis Razr. BFG were the smallest 35's but held up well. Would make a good 37" tire. MTR is close to true to size. Razr's are more like a 36...- BKennedy

RV Update / Upgrade Thread
I've been dry camping on my Arizona property since October. The last few weeks the solar hasn't kept the batteries charged. Checked the panels, they're putting out almost 23 volts each. The connector from the panels to the wires is the same. When they are connected to the solar charge...- BKennedy

Bkennedy's SAS and Rebuild Thread
I've been looking at new tires lately. I currently have 35x12.5x15's. The Maxxis Razr is probably the best off road tire as far as traction goes that I've ever had. The sidewalls are not very strong, and they are wearing out quickly. They are over half way worn, which is usually when I start...- BKennedy

Bkennedy's SAS and Rebuild Thread
Went over to the area north of here by Lake Meade around Gregg's Hideout Rd. There are a few marked trails in canyons that lead down to the lake I wanted to check out. I drove past Hualapai Canyon to Spring Canyon. Map shows the canyon goes all the way to the lake. Nope. Ends about a mile from...- BKennedy

Looking for opinions on this rotor
I only change rotors when they are warped, cracked or obviously worn. That looks to be in good shape. No bluing or surface cracks. Use a scotch pad or even sandpaper in a circular pattern to deglaze them and run it.- BKennedy

91-94 any truck with ABS on the four weels?
Remove the ABS relay in the under hood fuse box. Deleted. I removed all the ABS, including all the wiring and pump when I did a solid axle swap. Pulling the relay killed the dash light.- BKennedy

91-94 any truck with ABS on the four weels?
If you drive on dirt roads at all, ABS in the 1st Gens sucks. I remember going down a steep loose slope. The ABS kicked in and the Explorer wouldn't stop. It was a bouncy ride to the bottom.- BKennedy

91-94 any truck with ABS on the four weels?
I'm aware he's in South America. One of the pictures showed the ABS sensors at the front wheels. He was asking if any 1st Gen Explorers came with ABS. No idea what's going on with his rig. I think it had unique export stuff done, and a bunch more stuff done by the previous owner(s).- BKennedy

Roof rack rivvet size
Mine had rivnuts and tapered Phillips head screws. Is the rivet lose? If not, use some RTV or window caulking. When I removed my rack, I used white silicone caulking to close the holes.- BKennedy

Desperate Overheating advice.
What brand water pump? I order off RA regularly, but I'm picky about brands. Also what fan clutch? I replaced the fan clutch with a heavy duty Gates the same time as the pump. It's louder than the old one, but it works. You might still have air in the system. Try squeezing the radiator...- BKennedy

Bkennedy's SAS and Rebuild Thread
Camping on the Arizona property. Took a drive to Gregg's Hideout on Lake Meade. It was originally a ferry crossing. It was about 35 miles total, 17 dirt. I made it from my property in 40 minutes. 03 fliptrac $700 daily driver (summer of fun with 4 sport tracs)
It was just a suggestion sent in a PM. Most people would have responded to the PM. 410Fortune, he's a really nice guy. I just thought that asking about wheel center caps, then driveline vibration after servicing was getting away from the topic, which is one of the coolest Sport Trac builds ever.- BKennedy

TOE ALIGMENT TOOL BY RUFF STUFF
Yes, that is how it's done. This tool helps you get the proper toe, which you adjust with the tie rod ends. The Explorer is tracking straight down the highway, no pull, no weird shimmy or jerk when going over uneven bumps at highway speed. It's smoooooth.- BKennedy

Door armor?
You might be able to find a set someone removed from their former police vehicle. Most agencies don't reuse the armor because it's Kevlar and has a 7-10 year lifespan. Doesn't mean it won't work as intended, it's just not guaranteed to work as intended. A lot of departments donate old vests...- BKennedy

Completed Project 93 Explorer TDI Swap
23 MPG is excellent for a 1st gen. This thread is getting me thinking about when it comes time to swap my 4.0. I was thinking of a GM supercharged 3800 V6, but this swap seems easier because you already did it. It would also make it a better all around rig because of the mileage increase.- BKennedy

Just wanted to share
@Rick used a master cylinder out of a Dodge 1500. It's a larger diameter bore and mounts to the Explorer booster. Not sure what year but he should be along. I have a 1995 Explorer MC and it works well, but a firmer pedal would be nice. I can't use the Dodge MC because the location of the...- BKennedy

New radiator, very low quality compared to the one replaced.
Looks like the radiator that was replaced was a all aluminum aftermarket or made for your Explorer. Could you get the old radiator repaired locally? I know you have difficulty sourcing parts. The one you bought is a single row. Might not work very well in your climate.- BKennedy

93 Explorer-right rear drum brake issues
The best solution to drum brakes is to swap them with disks. I think the issue was discussed at length with no solution. I've never had one brake be more sensitive than the other side, especially since you already replaced everything. How does the pedal feel?- BKennedy

1500 Silverado Crew Cab Rear Axle Swap
I figured out that every vehicle has a sweet spot. Had to mess with the RV bag's pressure for several trips. This last trip home from AZ I finally got it right. 45 PSI in the front bag's, 100-125 in the rear. No sway, no bounce and still rides smooth. Big rigs don't push it around either...- BKennedy
