Good Gears to run on 33s?
give the A4LD some credit.. 190K miles, 4.88 gears with 35s and no trans issues. dual coolers, fans, and a trans temp gauge will do wonders on the life of the trans. BTT.. I ran 4.10s with 33s and realized after gearing to 4.88 what I was missing. plan your build, gear it once.- Four0Sport

8.8 Junkyard LS Question
exactly what i was going to say. find a 2nd gen disc brake rear. I still have the factory LS in my trail truck just with a few extra friction and steel discs added to the clutches and it performs great. you can even get lucky and sometimes find factory LS and 4.10 gears. great upgrade if...- Four0Sport

good call on marking the shaft.. I sorta messed around with the steering shaft, inspected the lower rag joint and did not see any noticeable cracks like you can on the upper rag joint but it needs to come off nonetheless. got caught up helping a buddy find a noise in his XJ, ended up being...- Four0Sport

it has become apparent that I have an issue with my steering. what is the issue? it sucks. i'm all over the road constantly correcting the steering. now I know that since flipping the steering on top of the knuckle the track bar is not in the same plane as the drag link and i do have a axle...- Four0Sport

Overwhelmed with wheel options, need help!
going with 31s huh? ever gonna go bigger? if you are then dont waste your time with a 15x7 wheel, go with a 15x8. as far as offset goes the more common combination is a 15x8 wheel with a 3.75" offset, this will bring the tires out a little. I think there is a pic of my truck with 31s and that...- Four0Sport

Thanks for the compliment! Right now its sitting beside the garage with the rear ujoint about to fall out of it.. lol Drove it 3 hours, wheeled it on some rocks, grenaded a hub, drove it home only to find that I must have spun the rear shaft flange on some rocks and one of the caps weasled its...- Four0Sport

did you order the DIY kit and install the planetaries from a second case yourself? doesn't seem like it would be too big of a hassle and I have a spare 1354 at the house. youre running the regular box not the shorty, correct? been eyeing up the shorty doubler, gotta remember I'm driving a...- Four0Sport

good points.. thanks for the reply I have been starting to think of the axle shafts as being the problem was well. Mile Marker hub issue
Had a rubbing/grinding noise coming from the LH hub, popped the dial off and saw some milky grease so I tore the whole knuckle down and cleaned/repacked the wheel bearings, spindle bearings, cleaned off the caliper mount, wheel hub, and disassembled the mile marker hub to clean it.
