There's a Truckhaven trip planned in November. I'm hoping to make it to that. I have a short list of things I want to get done before then. So I better start getting to it. Also would like to get back to big bear before then too.

A stock FJ, two xterras, and an sas Pathfinder. And some Jeep's. The FJ did well, just needs some lift to get the belly higher.

If I can. I was supposed to be getting the final surgery to remove the last of the cancer, but it has come back in the liver again so i don't know what kind of shape I'll be in physically for the rest of the year.

Really hope they give it a different engine in the US market

Even with little feedback, it's nice to post everything of the build on the forum so that you have it all in one place and you can share the build with anyone asking questions, and for people searching in the future that your build might help them. Spring over will definitely get you more flex...

I always thought one of the studs was going to break when I would break them loose. Surprised they never did. Good ol eBay spacers.

It's something with those alloy adaptors. I've taken the wheels on and off many times and they're always stuck on there good.

As of now, I actually have another spare A4LD at the house. But I don't want to go through the work of installing it. And I don't want to install the M5OD until I regear it and rebuild it. So for now, I do nothing.

I was lucky to have access to a press. That was the one and only time I've done them. Give the nut n bolt method a try.

I used a hydraulic press to do my bushings.

Thanks fortune! I've read about the front pump and seal run-out and alignment issue. Which is why I'm not eager to keep this trans. And bar n plate is what I wanted, which is why I got the b&m which claimed to be a "stacked" bar and plate design. Not a fan of tube and fin. I had a C5 and sold...

Upgraded tranny the trans cooler today. I've been running my car untouched since it spewed fluid, but the day it did that was on a 200 mile drive on a very hot day. And I had put 200 miles on it earlier that day (drive out and back to Blythe CA) So since the trans doesn't give me any troubles...

Glad to see you and the B2 back again. I had a long hiatus too, and came back with a b2 which is somewhat inspired by yours (and 4x4junkie) How did you do the round headlight buckets? Something I want to do in the future. I'm gonna miss the blue with white fenders.

Yeah that's what I'm worried about. I think I'll go toward the manual trans. But I want to swap in the lower gear set from the smaller engine units. So I'll start looking for a 4cyl M5OD (or 2.9)

The trans shop that we work with quoted me $800 for a rebuild. Bench job so I'd pull the trans myself. Which is a decent price. And then I don't have to mess with any swapping or clutching or shifting. But I still worry cause I've heard the horror stories of rebuilt a4lds that only last a year...

I'm hoping I can make it if something gets planned. But my current transmission condition may prevent me from going.

I don't want a manual :( Maybe I should do like 410fortune and swap a v8 4r70w. A4LD trouble was what led him to the swap too.

When I was installing the current trans, I noticed it looked pretty fresh on the inside. Maybe this was a problem the previous owner already tried to fix?

And in thinking about the manual conversion, I would want to swap the 1,2, & 3rd gears in the trans to the lower ratio ones from non 4.0 model trucks. So that's more work too.

It's tempting. I really want to keep it an automatic trans. But the manual would give more reliability and better gas mileage. But more work to drive. I don't mind stick shifts in small cars with light clutches and small shifters, but not a fan of manual trucks and SUVs. What I really want is...
