I've read a lot about this. Some say, DOT 4 is only a newer version of DOT 3 and can be used. But a few years ago, a friend told me that his garage used the wrong brake fluid and damaged the seals and hoses of his Explorers brake system. Can you tell me your experience?

The little heater hose which sits on the top of the thermostat housing was leaking at the bottom of the hose. I inspected the housing which had been replaced last year. Seems to be ok. No coolant to find around the housing or the sealings. Coolant can be only found at the top of the housing...

I'm so disappointed about Ford's poor product quality. Just wanted to install a new air filter. For that reason I unplugged the MAF-sensor plug and had to see that the cable isolation near the plug is no more flexible. It is hard and breaks and has several cracks.

Got my new temperature sensor today and measured the o-ring: Outer diameter: 13.5 mm Inner diameter: 8.5 mm Thickness: 2.5 mm Fits perfect into the new thermostat housing. So I think that the o-rings from home depot which were suggested in another forum by mdisalvo will also fit...

I noticed that my "heater control valve" is leaking at 61,000 miles. So if you notice your car is losing cooling fluid and you don't know where it comes from, check this valve. It should be not expensive and easy to replace.

Since yesterday my Explorer makes a loud knock that comes from a small piece of plastic (1) that moves to the right when pressing the brake pedal (ignition on!) in "P" position. Evereything looks ok, but the knocking sound is annoying. Did anyone have this "problem", too?

Just noticed that my 2007 Explorer's brake padal rubber is pretty worn in the right lower corner so that already the blank metal can be seen. Is this normal? My 14 year old 1995 Explorer does not show such things after 120,000 miles.

Hello, this weekend I had to remove the cover of the drivers seat and what I saw made me wondering. All the metal of the seat is covered by rust. Even the rails. I looked further and found more rust at the firewall near the parking brake pedal. My Explorer is of 2007. How will it look...
