yakima hitch rack 2" to my factory 1-1/4

I just bought a used Yakima hitch rack for my 2003 explorer. I have the factory bumper 1-1/4 hitch receiver. I just installed it on the truck using a Hitch Adapter 1-1/4" to 2" Trailer Hitch Receiver. The problem is that the rack sticks far out now. Any economical solutions other then buying...

New tires not holding air OEM 17' rim

Done Before taking the truck in I decided to spray some Windex around the valve stem…bingo that is where it is leaking. It’s not the valve itself but it’s actually where it seats. This is probably why it was still leaking even after they put the bead sealer on. (I asked them to change the...

New tires not holding air OEM 17' rim

Going in this week to have them install the replacement rims. Picked up 4 OEM rims for $225. They needed some tlc but look like they are in better shape then mine. I cleaned up all visible corrosion then painted the scuffed up areas to prevent it from happening again (on the inside of rim)...

Where does a tire seat on OEM rim

Can someone describe where the actual bead is on a 17' OEM aluminum rim. The new rims I just picked up has old rubber residue all along the lip and I am not sure if this will interfere with the seal. backround of my situation as described in a previous thread: Just had my tires replaced...

New tires not holding air OEM 17' rim

Picked up four used OEM rims that seem to be in good shape for $225 I don't see corrosion however the lips of the rims contain what appears to be dry crusted rubber from the old tire. I hope that I didn't just waste money on rims with the same problem. The rubber comes off with a razor but I...

My $3300 visit to the dealership

Located Bridgewater, and if anyone could recommend a good shop for the future that would be appreciated! Back in the day when I had my F-150 I would tackle some of these jobs, but over the years the furthest I will go is Internet diagnosing. Aside from the old clogged sunroof drain or other...

My $3300 visit to the dealership

Liccardi Ford Goodyear Fortera water under the bridge for me but really what gets me ticked off is the fact that the wheels are leaking air slowly

My $3300 visit to the dealership

I am a new member and I would like to contribute some content here for others. Before bringing my truck in for service I did my research using this forum. My experience with this truck has been good so far, just routine oil changes and several items covered under warranty. 2003 XLT...

New tires not holding air OEM 17' rim

You would think that the valves would be changed after the second time it was brought in? It appears that the aluminum was poliched and you could see traces of the new bead so the corrosion must be bad if its still leaking. I found someone local who has 4 new rims without tires so hopefully...

New tires not holding air OEM 17' rim

Thank you for the quick feedback Other then the usual scratched up clearcoat you cannot see the oxidized aluminum. A friend has the painted version aluminum rims from the Eddie Bauer and those things are oxidized all over the outside. The leak is slow on all but one tire which lost 15 lbs...

New tires not holding air OEM 17' rim

Just had the dealership replace my tires with Goodyear Fortera tires and now the tires are all leaking air slightly. Brought back to the dealer and was told that the rims are badly corroded and will not make a perfect seal. They applied some kind of bead to the rim that is supposed to establish...
