    Source for door panel armrests?

So far no luck. There were some complete panels in red on ebay but I'm not prepared to spend $200 per panel on a truck I am selling. I had considered making one out of wood. The shape is fairly simple and I'll bet it could be done but it might be a bit more work that I'm prepared to take on...

    Source for door panel armrests?

I've got a '93 XL (so no power windows/locks) and both driver's side armrests on the door trim panel, front and rear door, have broken. I've been having a heck of a time finding replacements. I know Ford disco'd these years ago, nothing on Craigslist or ebay and none of the junk yards have...

    ARC for on board air?

I'm looking at buying a '97 Limited that comes with ARC. I don't plan to keep the ride control system functional but it got me wondering if the compressor could be repurposed to run a small onboard air system, mostly to air up tires or maybe a future rear airbag mod. I did some searching on...

    Which year 2nd Gen??

yeah, that's why I said I'm not sure what to do about the front. I'd like to do a SAS but I don't want a bunch of lift.

    Which year 2nd Gen??

Ok, thanks. That helps expand my options a bit. I have a built up gen 1 now but it seriously lacks in the power department. I like the 5.0 X's because with a t-case swap you basically have half ton running gear. I just have to decide what to do with the front end.

    Which year 2nd Gen??

I'm looking for a 2nd gen with a 5.0 and 4R70w with the plan to rebuild the engine and transmission and do a 4406 swap and small lift. The goal is to build a tough trail truck that will tow a trailer well. Initially I was looking for the newest gen 2 5.0 I could get but around here there...

    Power seat wiring question

Ok, thanks, that makes more sense. I just couldn't find the source for that wire in the shop manual. So does that supply power only for the one function? The other two motors and heater/lumbar are all supplied by the green wire? I know the green wire is a 20A feed, would 20A be enough for...

    Power seat wiring question

I have some 05 Sport Trac power buckets I'm adding to my 93 Ex. One thing I haven't figured out yet, there is a yellow/blue wire on the main harness into the seats that I believe supplies power from one seat to the other. Can anyone confirm this is in fact the purpose of this wire?

Sport Trac seats in a 1st Gen?

you were right flamingX, I got a look at the Sport Trac seats and they mount the same. The only difference is the seat belts on the Sport Trac mount to the seat track and have a different buckle. Not sure if mine will plug in but I suspect not. Now the question is: I also found some '93 'X...

    SOA question

My truck sits just about level with a SOA and a 4" lift in the front and the rear shaft is fine. I don't think you will know for sure how yours works out till you try it. You can fix the pinion angle before you weld on the spring mounts. Plan on needing a longer rear shaft and if then if...

Sport Trac seats in a 1st Gen?

I have a line on a set of leather front seats from an '05 Sport Trac. I'm curious if anyone has done this swap? Not too worried about the wiring side of things, more interested in how close the mounting is since I can't get my hands on them just yet to check it out for myself.

If it works please post here. If you had a pic to that would be great.

    Steering sucks, any solutions?

I've replaced all the steering linkage on my truck, had the steering box rebuilt with all the bearings replaced with bushings, plus new ball joints, but I still find the steering is crappy. There seems to be a fair amount of dead area (not sure how else to describe it, basically I can move the...

Anyone have problems installing a steering stabilizer?

No, never did get it installed. I have a buddy who runs an off-road shop. One of these days when I'm in his neck of the woods I'll have him take a look at it and see if he can figure out a way to make it work.

    best fluid choice, M5OD?

Just in the process of doing the clutch on my '93 X so I'm going to do a fluid change at the same time. Since Mercon III is gone now what are guys using, Mercon V? and is it worth going to a synthetic fluid and if so which one?

    4 inch lift and 33x12.50

Mine was basically un-driveable with 33's and 4" lift. Couldn't back up and turn even a hair without the tires trying to rip the fenders off. I had a buddy at a bodyshop cut a chunk out of the fender and reweld the lip back on. Looks like stock and the splash shields can be kept which was a...

Truck sits lower in the right front

I jacked it up and turned the spring back and it sat level again so I'm pretty sure that's it but I'm not sure how to fix it. Some sort of clamp maybe? I'm not sure why it bugs me so much, I guess it's kind of like peoples pictures hanging crooked drives me nuts too.

Truck sits lower in the right front

Anyone ever have a problem with front coil springs moving in the spring mount? Quite often my truck (93 X, 4" Tuff Country lift) is sitting low in the right front. As far as I can tell it looks like the right coil can turn past the stop that is built into the upper mount and it makes the...

    6G alternator on a 1st gen?

I happened to get my hands on a good 200a alternator off a Crown Vic PI, I'm wondering if anyone has figured out a way to mount these on a 1st gen? The stock mounting system is basically perpendicular to the mounts on the newer units so maybe this isn't doable but I figured if it could be...

    Loud front end poping sound

I have extended arms and I get a pop/clunk noise on hard brake and sometimes on bumps especially with the wheels turned. Mind you I am under 500 miles on a new lift and completely rebuilt front end so I will have to do some checking to see what is going on, it may be something needs re-torquing.

    Clutch options?

My truck is going to need a clutch fairly soon so I'm hoping for some feedback on the best way to go. I have access to either Luk, Centerforce or OEM. The Luk Gold and the OEM are about the same cost but OEM comes with a new slave/release and the Luk doesn't. A Centerforce II is about $100...

Anyone have problems installing a steering stabilizer?

So finally after six long months I have my truck on the road (pics to follow soon) but the steering needs some improving so I picked up a BDS steering shock kit. Problem I have is the steering linkage is too close to the cross member and it hits the shock body at full RH lock. If I move the...
