On the '02 Explorer, after the ignition is switched off, does the DC power cut off after a period of time, as it does in other vehicles? I have noticed with my GPS that it does not cut off immediately when I remove the key, however, I don't want to leave it plugged in and check it an hour later...

Thanks for the input, I am thinking about just going for the ff's because they are only a few dollars more. I guess I will look around for some cheap pencil beams first, but I don't have anywhere to put them in the bumper area.

gluing it is your best option. Trust me, you do not want to take that dash apart. Some pics from my own little escapade, just weeks after I got the thing: If the pics don't say enough, it was hours and hours of HELL in about a 95 degree shop.
