I pulled that one (and replaced) checking for spark.

P0301 rough idle no power (already checked spark)

4.0L 2003 Sport Trac. Like the subject says. Also, under the hood sounds like sucking air (or puffing out?) but not continuous. More like every stroke. Hoping someone has an idea. John

    02 Sport Trac won't crank

My Sport Trac needs the neutral safety switch adjusted. This sometimes requires me to push the gear selector more firmly into Park, or place into Neutral to get the engine to crank. Just a thought.

    System voltage a bit low?

Thanks for the response folks, I feel better about it now.

    System voltage a bit low?

I have had this 03 Sport Trac for about 3 years. The voltage gauge has always been reading a little under half. I have a good meter and voltage at idle and higher reads 13.8v to 13.9v. A few days ago my alternator died. I replaced with a used one and system voltage still the same. Should it...

Thank you! Worked for me also.

Power port rewire to switched type

Thanks Don. I will have a look at that. Sounds easy enough. Just need to identify the proper fuse.

Power port rewire to switched type

I could rewire the power port (found on right side of console by passenger legs) but wanted to know if there is a simple way to change it to be switched with ignition rather than always on?

    Question regarding front dome/map lightbulbs

I managed to remove the bulbs from the sockets. I soldered solid wire leads to the LED replacements and got the wires situated to make good contact in the socket. We'll see how that works out. These LEDs are a bit weak and don't provide as much light as the incandescents. I have a few more...

    Question regarding front dome/map lightbulbs

My map lights look like this picture with lens removed. Twist the white socket part 1/2 turn and pull out. However, the bulb does not pull out of the round plastic socket. The wire leads of the bulb are fastened into metal tabs on the socket in a fashion similar to wire punch down block (can...

    Question regarding front dome/map lightbulbs

I was about to change the map lights to LED. I assumed they were normal wedge style. When I removed the lens, I seen they twist out being held in place with some round thing. Okay, so I pulled one out and tried to pull the wedge bulb out of the the round thing. But found that each wire from...

Dye/Color Trim on Explorer Sport Trac

Krylon makes plastic paint in spray cans. I have not tried this but it's an idea.

Trying to track down lean codes (P0171, P0174)

I have not replaced it in a long time. I will try that next. I certainly hope it's not a fuel pump issue.

Trying to track down lean codes (P0171, P0174)

I have been getting the lean codes for Bank 1 and Bank 2. I clean and replaced MAF. I had previously replaced the famous vacuum elbow (and it's still good). I have had a smoke test done to find any other vacuum leaks. A small amount of smoke came from the EGR, replaced it. The codes have...

2004 Sport Trac. Water in the cab.

I accessed my tubes by removing the front pillar moldings and sun visor and pulling down on the headliner front corner(s) enough to see the tube(s). I only checked the passenger side. The tube actually came off the moon roof drain and caused water in the headline that would drain out on to the...

    Yet another starting issue

Thanks for the reply. I did not see an email about a new posting. There is no CEL. I did not soak the TB and I put in a new MAF. I did not notice the issue before changing the T-Stat. Although the shop I went to for changing spark plugs (its winter and one or two are a buggar to get at)...

    Yet another starting issue

I have searched, but do not think I've found the same scenario, so I am posting a new thread. My 03 Sport Trac starts fine, but only for around 1 sec. The drops out almost stalls (elapsed time approx 1-1.5 seconds) then comes back fine. Mildly rough idle after. Once in a while, when it drops...

Wants to go left even after alignment

I did cross-rotate the fronts. I will get to the shop and have them check. Perhaps rotate front-rear next.

Wants to go left even after alignment

It is a reputable shop. Perhaps when I go back and complain, they may dig deeper. I was just wanting to know what other things might be wrong so I can be confident in what they may tell me is wrong.

Wants to go left even after alignment

There is no collisions that I am aware of.

Wants to go left even after alignment

I did try a search, spent 1-1/2 hours reading but didn't really find my answer. My 03 ST wants to go left. I am constantly holding the wheel to the right. More so depending on road crown. If I let go so the steering wheel returns to center, I'm on my way to the left lane. I have...

Hop, Skip, and Jump (suspension question)

Thank you for all the quick responses. I will put new shocks and double check the air pressure. Next step (read: extra cash) I will put a new sway bar. I love this forum!

Hop, Skip, and Jump (suspension question)

2003 Sport Trac. If, while driving, I hit a certain level of bump (sunken manhole cover as example), at moderate city or highway speeds, the rear end likes to hop and "shimmy" (slight drift to one side or the other). I call it "dancing" for lack of a better word. What is considered the...

New 04 Explorer owner.. trailering harness?

My 2003 Sport Trac says it is good to pull 3000lbs via bumper, and 5500 with weight distributing hitch. I have the 6cyl 4.0L and probably the 3.55 rear end.
