There is at least one member who had custom springs made, for I believe a 1-1.5" drop. I don't think you can go 2"+ without notching the frame since the axles run through it. I forget who it was that had the springs made / where they were made. Perhaps a search will yield that information for...

Yeah forgot to mention the supercharger :) and the SOHC actually has a lower mod potential than the 5.0 but yeah better gas milage. Never had one myself so I cant comment on how quick they are.

Ive got a 98' Mountaineer 5.0L w/ AWD, as for mods you can do dual exhaust, chip, intake, they are making headers now also. From there you can get into the engine more doing the cam and such. Or go for a 347 stroker kit :) Not sure on suspension, for lowering you can loosen the torsion bars...

I was going to say check the R/A Bushings as its a common probem, but since you just had them replaced maybe make sure both are seated correctly, and that the R/A Bolts are tight, other than that not really sure. Hope you get it figured out, maybe someone else will have another suggestion...

I saw and listend to that same package in the store and it didn't sound half bad, I was pretty impressed. Should be a nice upgrade over what you have, those basslink's are great for space saving though.

I'll vouch for the silverstars, Have had them for over a year in my 98' Mounty and LOVE them. Those bulb's on ebay probably wouldn't be as bright and offer a cheaper blue tint, which from what I heard is also horrible in the rain. -Matt

They arnt street legal (at least none of the ones I've ever seen) and at least in MN you don't need any special license to ride them. Here you just have to register them to drive them on state trails but you don't need a motorcycle or quad endorsement or anything. They are a blast, have fun!

Sounds like the common exhaust leak on the passenger side (I believe) exhaust manifold and the metalic type sound is probably the valves. Hopefully someone else will respond to verify but that's what it sounds like to me.

I have a 98' AWD with the 5.0 and love it. I previously had a 93' with the 4.0 OHV and the 5.0 was a nice jump up, and you can't beat the sound of the V8 :) I get about 13 in town, that's with my foot in it most the time. I figure with a high flow intake and dual exhaust Ill pick up 2-3 more...
