Here's a link to changing the puddle lamps to an LED instead of a bulb. But it shows how to remove the socket so I think it's what you need. If the drivers door puddle lamp is dead on your Ex, I have the same problem, but it's not the bulb. I haven't found the problem yet...

Does not sound like Rack and Pinion to me. Usually the noise from that is only when turning. You'll probably be leaking power steering fluid from it when it goes bad. Jack up the front end and try a spin and shake on the wheels to see if you notice anything.

Were all the doors closed when you tried? The instructions from the e-bay seller worked like a champ for me. There may be a stopper if you have 4 remotes already programmed, since it will only hold 4 remotes and 4 transponder keys.

The other symptoms sound like the system for the alarm and locking devices don't see all the doors locking correctly. Check the dome lights when you close all the doors on the X. Even though the the doors are Shut, the system doesn't see it. Check the door switches.

Sounds like your driving on "Dry Pavement", if thats the case, DON"T! This is a bad thing for your 4 wheel drive. Get some sand, or mud to play with the 4X4.
